Origin

On February 19th, 2013, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was released. Before a boss battle with the enemy Sundownder, he says to Raiden, "Like I said, kids are cruel, Jack. And I'm very in touch with my inner child." The scene was uploaded to YouTube^[1] on May 6th, 2013, garnering over 187,000 views in 10 years (shown below).

The quote became the subject of memes on sites like Reddit^[2] and iFunny^[3] throughout the 2010s and early 2020s, although it did not receive widespread virality until 2022 (early examples shown below).

On January 17th, 2022, YouTuber^[4] Max0r published the second part of his video series "An Incorrect Summary of Metal Gear Rising." At the 6:01 mark, he does a comedic fan dub of Sundowner's quote, saying, "Like I said, kids are cruel, Jack, and I love minors" (shown below). The video gained over 8.5 million views in a year.

The video gained viral spread through reuploads to YouTube,^[5] also inspiring edits using the audio clip. On April 27th, YouTuber^[6] Verdigus posted a recreation of the original scene in Roblox, garnering over a million views in a year (shown below, left). On May 15th, YouTuber^[7] HUMANSHIELD posted a video using the "minors audio" recreating the scene with Team Fortress 2 characters, garnering over 116,000 views in a year (shown below, right).
