The earliest known Marvel Rivals mod was posted on December 9th, 2024, by Nexus Mods user Irastris,^[1] which features a nude version of the Squirrel Girl hero character, which saw particular virality following the game's release. The mod garnered over 1.4 million views and 43,000 downloads in a month.

Marvel Rivals character mods became increasingly popularized in the next month, inspiring players to create unique mods featuring characters from other pieces of media, nude mods altering characters' clothing and incorporating meme references, such as the 19 Inches of Venom mod.

For instance, on December 20th, 2024, Nexus Mods user Leonaura^[2] uploaded a mod titled “Vegeta as Iron Man,” replacing the Iron Man hero with the Dragon Ball character. The mod (seen below) received roughly 156,000 views and 62,000 downloads in a month.

On January 12th, 2025, YouTube^[3] user @ItsDeepz_ posted a guide video on installing the character mods in the game (seen below), which garnered over 32,000 views and 1,100 likes in a day.
