About

"Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)" is an R&B song by American singer Usher. Originally released in 2009, in 2023, the song achieved virality as it became associated with the Jujutsu Kaisen character Satoru Gojo. "Daddy's Home" later became a gaming meme as it was used in Fortnite memes about being saved by a teammate and later in Marvel Rivals memes in which it was used together in clips of support players being saved by their tank or another character.

Origin

On December 8th, 2009, American R&B singer Usher released "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)," the first single from his sixth studio album Raymond v. Raymond. On January 29th, 2010, the music video for the song was uploaded to Usher's official YouTube[1] channel, where it accumulated over 167 million views in 15 years (shown below).

On November 26th, 2023, YouTube[10] user SwanLacie posted a montage of the Jujutsu Kaisen character Satoru Gojo set to the song. The edit (shown below) garnered over 10 million views in one year, with the song becoming associated with the character and appearing in numerous memes about him in the following months.



Starting in late 2023, the song has been used as a gaming meme, typically featured in memes about someone, the metaphorical "daddy," saving their teammate from harm. On December 20th, 2023, TikTok[3] user @scaryspikescaringkids used the song together with a Fortnite clip of a player wearing a Satoru Gojo skin descending from the sky and reviving their teammate. The post (shown below) garnered over 216,000 likes in one year.

On February 16th, 2024, TikTok[4] user @big0unce444 posted a similar Fortnite clip, setting it to the song and captioning it, "Bro done flew in like a guardian angel." The video (shown below) garnered over 2.1 million likes in one year.

More TikTok[5][6] users shared similar Fortnite clips through 2024, with several viral versions using the caption, "How it feels like saving your friend who is better than you." The song saw widespread use on TikTok[2] as it continued to spread, with over 410,000 videos using it on the platform as of February 2025.

On January 16th, 2025, TikTok[7] user @noxvolv posted a Marvel Rivals clip in which the Marvel character Mr. Fantastic shields the character Dagger from damage while she is stunned. The video (shown below), set to the song, garnered over 978,000 views and 217,000 likes in one month and was widely circulated online through reposts on Instagram,[8] X and other platforms.

In the following month, the song achieved viral popularity as it was used in more similar Marvel Rivals memes. For example, on January 27th, 2025, TikTok[9] user @xo.rxch posted a meme that gained over 57,800 likes in one month (shown below).
