Masta Artisan's "Oh My God," also known by the lyrics Yo, I Can’t Believe This, is a 2013 hip-hop song that begins with lyrics that repeat the phrase, "Oh my god, I can't believe this." The song became the subject of memes on Twitter / X in early January 2024 in which a scene from the music video where Masta Artisan raps the opening lyrics is used alongside a caption about something unbelievable happening. Some of the memes use the reaction video genuinely, while others are more sarcastic.

Origin

On January 4th, 2013, rapper Masta Artisan released the album Rapper's Liebe featuring the song "Oh My God," receiving largely negative reviews on sites like Rate Your Music.^[1] A music video for the song was posted to YouTube^[2] on June 12th, 2014, garnering over 90,000 views in 10 years (shown below).

On January 5th, 2024, X^[3] user @spaceashes posted a video of a comment attached to the music video that reads, "I'm gonna say it. I much prefer this to mediocre mumble rap," garnering over 13,000 likes in four days (shown below).

The song and video gained viral spread on X over the following days where it was attached to captions about something unbelievable happening. On January 6th, 2024, X^[4] user @RaceplayShawty posted the clip, writing, "'They hit the fucking towers' George Bush at a baby school in Florida," garnering over 3,000 likes in three days.

That same day, YouTuber^[5] recordcollector1972 posted a remix of the song with Death Grips' song "Lord of the Game," which was reposted by X^[6] user @bradtaste on January 7th, garnering over 1,200 likes in two days (shown below).

Also on January 7th, TikToker^[7] @4caddit posted a RapTV parody meme using the song, garnering over 300,000 views in two days (shown below).

Later on January 7th, 2024, X^[8] user @NxtDeterio posted the video, writing, "I'm so sorry, your son has passed away' white people:" garnering over 15,000 likes in two days (shown below). Also on the 7th, X^[9] user @supersylvie_ posted the video under the caption, "skibidi toilet has lost meme of the year 2023," garnering over 14,000 likes in two days.
