About
The Miss Pacman Video, also known as the Ms. Pac-Man Video, refers to a viral gore video showing a Guatemalan woman named Alejandra Ico Chub whose hand had been dismembered and whose face had been cut in half horizontally to her ears, resembling the video game character Ms. Pac-Man. The video originally surfaced on the website Best Gore in 2018. Starting in 2023 and carrying into 2024, the video gained increased notoriety on social media platforms like Reddit, Twitter / X and TikTok, acting as a piece of shock media.
Origin
On October 29th, 2018, Mario Tut Ical was arrested by police in Chisec, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala and convicted of murdering his girlfriend, Alejandra Ico Chub (shown below).[1] The aftermath of Ical's attack on Chub was captured on video and went viral online, according to Guatemalan newspaper Prensa Libre.[1] The video would later become known as the "Miss Pacman Video."
In 2018, the video was posted to the shock site SeeGore,[2] receiving over 530,400 views in five years (censored screenshot shown below). The video starts with a dismembered hand on a bed and then pans to Alejandra Ico Chub whose face had been cut in half horizontally.
In September 2023, Mario Tut Ical was convicted in a Guatemalan court to serve a 50-year sentence.[1] He stated that he committed the crime due to a "start of jealousy," because he "believed that Alejandra was unfaithful to him."[1]

In 2023, the Miss Pacman Video resurfaced en masse within social media discourse, predominantly on TikTok, likely coinciding with Mario Tut Ical's then-active trial.[1] For instance, on February 7th, 2023, Spanish-speaking TikToker[3] @rene.menendez posted a video on the subject, gaining over 4.9 million plays and 318,700 likes in 11 months (shown below, left).
On May 30th, TikToker[4] @stxphaniekxm posted a video that spliced photos of both subjects from the video into a CapCut template, gaining over 4.4 million plays and 62,100 likes in eight months (shown below, right).
