"Mukuro Ikusaba, the 16th student", (also know as "Mukuro Ikusaba, the 16th Student, lying hidden somewhere in this school… the one they call the Ultimate Despair, Watch out for her") is a popular copypasta from the Danganronpa franchise.

Origin

The copypasta originated from the video game Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. At the end of Chapter 4, the character Kyoko Kirigiri whispers to the protagonist, Makoto Naegi, the infamous quote (shown below).



"Mukuro Ikusaba, the 16th Student, lying hidden somewhere in this school… the one they call the Ultimate Despair, Watch out for her."

The scene is repeated multiple times on its totality throughout the game.

Spread

After the release of the game, it became a joke in the Danganronpa fandom to reply to any comment about Mukuro Ikusaba with either the rest of the copypasta, edits of the scene, or edited images with text to fit the whole copypasta. The scene had a resurgence on popularity in Danganronpa communities such as iFunny, and /r/Danganronpa after 2017. For example, one of the most popular examples was uploaded by the Reddit user MildlyUpsetGerbil[1] to /r/Danganronpa on October 31st, 2019. The post gained over 1,500 points in the following 6 months (shown below, left). On March 10th, 2020, Redditor qwertisdead[2] posted a Pickle Rick Funniest Shit Ever joke related to the image, gaining over 630 points (shown below, right).
