Nuh Uh Spiderman Meme or Miles Morales Drops Peter Parker is a series of object-labeling TikTok memes using a scene from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in which Miles Morales drops Peter Parker into a portal that brings him back to his own universe. The memes, often set to the song "I Wonder" by Kanye West, add new dialogue captions over each character as they talk to change the context of the scene and often end with Morales saying "nuh uh." The meme became popularized in May 2023.

Origin

On May 21st, 2023, TikToker^[1] @3th4n123 posted a video set to a sped-up version of "I Wonder" by Kanye West. The video, captioned, "me saying goodbye to the random 34 year old guy with 4 kids I played with in 2020," shows the scene from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in which Miles Morales suspends Peter Parker over the portal that will return him home and talks with him before dropping him into it.^[6] The TikTok gained roughly 4,000 views in a week. On the same day, TikToker^[2] @arrowreallife posted a video with a nearly identical caption, garnering over 2 million views in the same span of time. It is unclear who posted their video first.

On May 25th, TikToker^[3] @3th4n123 posted another version of the meme in which he added captions to each character as they speak, with Morales saying "nuh uh" at one point, garnering over 800,000 views in a week (shown below).

Spread

The format continued to spread on TikTok throughout May and early June 2023. For example, on May 30th and 31st, 2023, TikTokers^[4][5] @romanianmonkeyfrr and @sinxsoulz_ posted versions of the meme that gained over 1.3 and 1.1 million views, respectively, in two days (shown below, left and right).
