OMG X Hi!!!, also known as OMG Hi!, is a two-panel stick-figure webcomic loosely based on the Are Ya Winning, Son? meme format that's used as an exploitable image macro in memes. In the comic, a depressed gamer is shown with fuzzy scribbles drawn all around them in the top panel but their sadness is broken up by whatever comes through the doorway in the bottom panel, causing them to blush. The earliest known post of a meme using the template appeared on Instagram in mid-2021 before spreading online throughout the year.

Origin

Although the exact origin is unknown, Instagram^[1] page la_bala_de_nisman posted the first known version online as early as July 17th, 2021. The meme (shown below) referenced Argentinian soccer player Lionel Scaloni, and it received roughly 18,300 likes over the course of five months.

Spread

The meme template stayed close to South American soccer discourse going into the months following, having an uptick in usage at the start of October 2021. For instance, the Facebook ^[2] page Messi Irônico posted a meme (shown below) that received roughly 1,300 reactions over two months.

The template began spreading outside online soccer circles in November 2021 when Twitter^[3] users like dislexical adopted the format. Their meme (shown below, left) was posted on November 13th and received roughly 36,600 likes over one month. Another example is a post from Tumblr^[4] user nightcrawlerr, whose version of the template (shown below, right) was posted on November 20th.

Going into December 2021, the template received more and more usage across platforms. Another notable example of the meme is one from Twitter^[5] user G0J0C4TBOY, posted on November 30th, 2021. The meme (shown below) featured a cat coming through the doorway, receiving roughly 261,900 likes in one month.
