On September 25th, 2021, YouTube^[1] user Cristal mix Vlog. uploaded a video titled "Famous orangutan driving a golf cart". In the video, an orangutan named Rambo drives a red golf cart at the menagerie of Sheikha Fatima Rashed Al Maktoum in Dubai. The video received more than 8 million views in four months. The original video was taken down (repost shown below).

In early 2022, the video began growing popular among various meme creators, as other YouTubers remixed the video with music. For example, on January 1st, 2022, YouTube^[2] user Pie_Flavour1 uploaded video titled "Orangutan Drives a Golf Cart (Life Could Be a Dream), adding the song "Life Could be a Dream" by The Chords. The video received more than 89,000 views in one month (shown below, left). On January 7th, 2022, YouTube^[3] user Unai Franco uploaded "Orangutan driving golf cart like in The Sopranos". The video received more than 81,000 views in one month (shown below, right).

On January 1st, 2022, TikTok^[6] user @icantdrivemanual uploaded a video with the caption "Me driving past the police after doing 110 in a 45". The video received more than 753,000 views in one month (shown below).

The original video has been reposted to various sites. For example On January 5th, 2021, official Facebook^[4] page "PGA TOUR" reposted the original video. It received more than 50,000 reactions and 33,000 shares in one month (shown below). On January 25th, 2022, Reddit^[7] user Grimballz reposted the video to /r/likeus subreddit. The post received more than 5,400 upvotes in one month. On January 6th, 2021, musician Patrick Cloud uploaded a video to his Facebook^[5] reviewing the orangutan driving a golf cart video. It received more than 6,400 reactions and 2,700 shares in one month (shown below).
