On November 7th, 2023, X^[1] / Twitter account @huntercantmiss posted a still image from a popular pornographic video, commenting, "I’m convinced that everyone watched this video growing up." The post (shown below) received over 1,800 reposts and 59,000 likes in two months.

Spread

On November 8th, 2023, X^[2] user @flvckojamie made a similar post, this time posting a frame Jayla Foxx's Popeyes Video. The post (shown below) received over 1,300 reposts and 13,000 likes in two months.

The engagement bait trend achieved virality on X in December 2023, after X user @fluxszn made another post on December 2nd, 2023, captioned, "I’m convinced our entire generation has seen this video…💀" The post (shown below) received over 3,300 reposts and 89,000 likes in three weeks.

Through December 2023, multiple similar posts using bait captions, such as "Our entire generation has seen this video" and "If you ever watched either of these videos you are the definition of down bad," saw viral spread on X / Twitter, with the trend later inspiring parodies and joke references.
