Over 700 Pounds of Ketamine refers to a viral YouTube thumbnail depicting a flexing Optimus Prime of the Transformers franchise captioned with the phrase. The image has since been both recontextualized and shared out-of-context, used similarly to New Rockstars Thumbnail reaction images.

Origin

On May 30th, 2024, YouTuber^[1] Theorymus uploaded a video titled "The Transformers Ketamine Incident," relaying news about a major drug bust in which a shipment of over 700 pounds of ketamine drug was seized in Thailand. Unofficial Transformer statues were used to smuggle ketamine, with the drug shipment hidden in the bases of the statues. The video garnered over 26,000 views in two weeks.

Spread

In late May 2024, the image saw initial spread on social media, typically being posted out-of-context. On May 30th, 2024, X^[2][3] users @TFHypeGuy and @YtThumbnails both posted the thumbnail, with the posts garnering over 230 reposts and 2,000 likes and 390 reposts and 2,700 likes, respectively, in two weeks (post by @TFHypeGuy shown below).

The image saw viral circulation on social media through reposts in early June 2024. Notably, on June 8th, 2024, X^[4] user @Starwasstolen posted the image, writing that he deliberately refuses to ever learn the context of the image so as not to ruin its funny implications. The post gained over 3,700 reposts and 39,000 likes in two days (shown below).
