About
Emiru, real name Emily Beth Schunk, is an American Twitch streamer, YouTuber and cosplayer known for her gaming content. She began streaming League of Legends in late 2015, becoming so popular that she inspired the design of the game's character Gwen. In 2020, she joined the content-creation organization Cloud9 and significantly grew her following over the next few years. In 2022, she left Cloud9 and joined One True King (OTK), becoming a co-owner in 2023. By 2025, she was one of the top 50 overall Twitch streamers and was the most-watched female Twitch streamer in early 2026.
In March 2025, a clip of streamers Emiru, Valkyrae and Cinna getting threatened and stalked by a man while IRL streaming went viral. Later that year, Emiru was assaulted at TwitchCon San Diego, becoming a massive online controversy and sparking questions about the event's handling of the incident. That same month, Emiru accused her ex-boyfriend, fellow Twitch streamer Mizkif, of abuse, resulting in Mizkif filing a defamation lawsuit against Emiru.
In February 2026, Emiru was accused by some of being racist for initially refusing to comment on the controversy surrounding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Emiru later apologized and cleared up her stance. She was also criticized for her friendship with controversial streamer Asmongold, a supporter of ICE.
History
Emiru began streaming League of Legends (LoL) on Twitch in 2015 while still in high school. She became known for her LoL streams, as well as her cosplay, over the following years.[1]
In 2020, Emiru joined the esports and content creation group Cloud9, further boosting her career. In 2021, she inspired the design of the LoL character Gwen. In 2022, she left Cloud9 to join OTK, becoming a co-owner of the organization in 2023.[2] Her cosplay content, inspired by anime and video game characters, became notably popularized on her social media pages in the 2020s.[3]
In 2025, Emiru won the "Best Creative Arts Streamer" award at The Streamer Awards.[4] That year, she also joined Red Bull as a Red Bull athlete.[5]
March 2025 Stalker Incident
On March 2nd, 2025, Emiru, Cinna and Valkyrae hosted a joint streaming marathon known as "Sisathon." At one point in the stream while visiting Santa Monica Pier in California, the women got off a Ferris wheel. A man sitting against a ride sees them passing and asks if he can sing for them in exchange for Emiru's number. They try to leave the situation, and he says he's going to keep following them as the group walks off, and he follows. They proceed to get in line for churros, still watching for the man, then decide to leave.
As the women are leaving, the harasser starts yelling at them. The streamers ask for security at the pier to come help them as he approaches the group of women. Security approaches the man and asks him what's going on, as suddenly he tries to rush past them to the streamers, saying, "I'll kill you right now." The streamers finally leave, and the stream ends.
The clip was uploaded to the subreddit /r/livestreamfail that night, garnering over 5,000 upvotes and 1,100 comments in a day.

October 2025 Assault at TwitchCon
On October 17th, 2025, Emiru was reportedly approached by a male attendee who grabbed her and tried to kiss her without consent. The incident took place at a meet and greet event during the first night at TwitchCon in San Diego, California.
The clip was originally posted to Twitter / X by user @BaconCrumbz, who wrote, "So some freak just assaulted Emiru at @TwitchCon. This behavior is fucking disgusting. I’m amazed that she still came back to finish the Meet and Greet line, honestly she deserves the utmost of respect. THIS HAS TO STOP!!!" The post gathered over 3 million views and 11,000 likes in a day.

TwitchCon SD (BaconCrumbz) October 18, 2025
After the video went viral on Twitter and the subreddit /r/Livestreamfails, Emiru's fans began sharing clips from earlier streams in which Emiru claims that she was not allowed to bring her own "favorite" security guard to TwitchCon 2025 due to his detaining of a harasser at a previous event. Other clips showed Emiru saying that she was obligated to conduct a meet and greet despite being reluctant to, as part of her contract with Twitch.
The event and the subsequent rumors surrounding Twitch's alleged mishandling of Emiru's safety led to significant backlash against the management of the event and Twitch staff, including its CEO, Dan Clancy, who was purported to be out partying that same night. The event occurred seven months after Emiru and fellow streamers Cinna and Valkyrae were followed and harassed by a stalker while livestreaming in California.
October 2025 Abuse Allegations Against Mizkif
On October 25th, 2025, Emiru went live on Twitch and accused her former partner, streamer Mizkif, of long-running sexual and psychological abuse, stalking, harassment and threats of blackmail, which took place during and after the time they dated in previous months and years. She said she’d stayed silent for months out of fear, but after being physically assaulted at TwitchCon earlier that week, she felt compelled to speak. Emiru claimed that while she and Mizkif lived together, her rabbits died, and she believes Mizkif threatened to frame her for animal cruelty if she spoke out.
The allegations resulted in Mizkif filing a defamation lawsuit against Emiru, which is ongoing as of February 2026.
February 2026 ICE Controversy
On February 6th, 2026, a clip of Emiru seemingly refusing to give her opinion on ICE's presence in America went viral. In the clip, posted by X[6] user @throwaway274555 that day to over 60,000 likes and 42 million views, Emiru says that she gets why people want their favorite content creators to give their opinions, but that people who need a streamer who doesn't know anything about politics to comment on politics, they should just "get off the internet."
Emiru is asked her thoughts on ICE
“If you need a streamer who doesn’t even know anything about politics to tell you about politics you probably just need to like get off the Internet” pic.twitter.com/JbcorDo9AQ— throwaway233 (@throwaway274555) February 6, 2026
The clip inspired some controversy online as some people accused Emiru of supporting ICE. One of the most notable examples of criticism came from leftist political streamer Denims, who, among commenting on Emiru's take on stream, posted a meme labeling Emiru a "racist chud," writing, "Never thought I’d see the day we’d be fence sitting the modern gestapo," garnering over 44,000 likes in three weeks.[7]
Emiru also received criticism for collaborating and being friends with streamer Asmongold, a vocal supporter of ICE and numerous right-wing political takes.
On February 8th, Emiru posted a now-deleted tweet responding to the controversy. She starts by claiming she didn't realize her chatter was even talking about ICE, the agency. She then confirms that she does not support ICE, writing, "I would never want to invalidate anyone who struggles with those things, and an agency like causing fear and suffering deserves zero support. To me, that’s not even political, it’s basic human empathy."
On being friends with "controversial" streamers, she writes, "A lot of people have questioned how these bad actors found their way into my circle, but it is certainly not because I am okay with vile behavior. Not abuse, not sexual assault, nor pedophilia. These guys did their best to hide their behavior not only from me, but from everyone around us as long as they possibly could. As serious allegations or evidence came out, I always immediately dropped them and vowed to never make content with them again."[8]
