About

Holder, formerly known as MajorLeagueWobs, is the alias of Finnish music producer Jere Särkkä. While mostly known for his dubstep remixes and songs and his wide stylistic variety, including trap music and synthwave, he is also known for his numerous collaborations with other well-known Internet figures, including h3h3 Productions and Filthy Frank, garnering attention for his productions.

Online History

Holder created his YouTube account in 2009.[1] It is unknown when his first SoundCloud account was created. In July 2012, Holder uploaded his first remix, a dubstep version of "Young Homie" by Chris Rene, to both SoundCloud and YouTube.[2][3]

He remained in general obscurity until December of 2013 with the release of a Thomas the Tank Engine Remix featuring "The Gospel of Hip-Hop" by nerdcore rapper MC Lars. Going into 2014, Holder began to grow in popularity with original tracks such as "Memories From a Distance," as well as remixes of songs such as "Hangover" by PSY, which was one of his first tracks to reach over 100,000 listens on SoundCloud. Holder abandoned this SoundCloud to start a new account in mid-2014.[4] The official MajorLeagueWobs Facebook was created around this time.[5]

With his new account, Holder became even more popular, partly due to some of the more meme-influenced tracks he released. Examples of these include remixes of the X-Files theme, Darude – Sandstorm, and "Spooky Scary Skeletons". In October 2014, Holder held an AMA on the /r/montageparodies subreddit, which garnered nearly 250 replies.[6]

Collaborations

Holder has been known to collaborate with other Internet personalities. He is known for providing music for numerous Montage Parodies; the most well known example of this is his collaboration with the Montage Parody creator AncientReality to make an MLG-themed Can Can Remix, which has been viewed over 2 million times since July 2014.

In August 2014, he released a theme song for the h3h3 Productions YouTube channel, and in October 2014, he released a theme song for The Filthy Frank Show. He later collaborated with the show's creator George "Joji" Miller on the track "Dumplings."[7] In May 2015, Holder produced the song "Sempai Cypher", an 8-minute nerdcore rap collaboration.
