About

Rebecca's Chinese Takeaway, also called Rebecca's Pink Rainbow Chinese Takeaway, is a real British-Chinese fusion takeaway in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. It opened in late 2021 and is run by Rebecca Chuek, a nurse who also operates the business. The account gained traction online organically through food content, then grew further through meme association.

While the restaurant's official TikTok account primarily features wholesome videos of food preparation, menu updates and daily operations, it became popularized among international audiences because many viewers, particularly Americans, found its distinctly British-Chinese dishes unusual or unappetizing compared to American-Chinese food.

It later became widely associated with the Floptok and Floptropica meme communities in the early 2020s. Within the fictional Floptropica universe, Rebecca's Chinese Takeaway is portrayed as an iconic in-universe landmark, with users creating ironic menus, fictional restaurant locations and exaggerated lore surrounding owner Rebecca Chuek. The meme has also inspired fans to visit the restaurant in person, resulting in numerous review videos and pilgrimage-style posts from TikTok creators.
