Rodrigo Góes is a Brazilian nutritionist and digital influencer known for his reaction videos commenting on fitness models or famous people's bodies, using humor and a mix of Portuguese and English slangs in his content. He went viral on June 2023 with the catchphrase Fake Natty, which is an expression in the bodybuilding universe about people who use anabolic, steroids and other substances to enhance their bodies, looking "Fake Natural" (Fake Natty).

History

Rodrigo Góes joined YouTube^[1] on May 20th, 2017, but his earliest video on the platform dates back to November 1st, 2022. In the video^[2], titled "Zac Efron's 'GH' belly," the Brazilian nutritionist tries to investigate if the American actor Zack Efron has used an HGH (Human Growth Hormone). The video (shown below) garnered over 180,000 views and 9.500 likes in nine months.

The creator got more popular around early-2023, when he uploaded a reaction video about the bodybuilder priest Marcelo Rossi. The video^[3], uploaded on May 4th, 2023, garnered over 417,000 views and 40,000 likes in three months.

Góes' content generally consists of commenting about famous steroids and celebrities known for using these types of substances. On April 27th, 2018, Urban Dictionary user @AllNattyGains^[6] explained (shown below) that the expression "Fake Natty" refers to "Someone who uses roids and gear but still claims to be natural." The expression became globally popular in the fitness and bodybuilder community.

Goés has been using the expression in several videos on his social media platforms, but one of his clips, in particular, went viral in Brazil. Posted on June 25th, 2023, Rodrigo uploaded a video on YouTube^[7] titled "Natural or Fake Natty Celebrities" in which he reacts to videos of Brazilian celebrities and tries to inquire if the person is using any substance. In the video (shown below), Góes is talking about the Brazilian bodybuilder Muzy, accusing him of using steroids, which garnered 532,000 views and 60,000 likes in a month.

Clips of the creator saying "fake natty" quickly spread across other social media platforms. For example, on May 18th, 2023, YouTube^[8] user @jamescringe posted a compilation video (shown below) of all the moments Goés had said the expression on his channel. The post garnered over 86,000 views and 4,000 likes in three months.
