Cassie Crying In Bathroom Mirror refers to a scene from HBO's Euphoria in which the character Cassie Howard (played by actress Sydney Sweeney) is looking at herself in the bathroom mirror while straightening her hair, crying and smiling. The scene was used as a reaction video on Stan Twitter and FlopTok, among other meme circles, throughout the 2020s, used to portray insanity. In 2024, Twitter / X users used the video as an exploitable following the phrasal template My Girlfriend Listening To Me In The Shower in which Cassie represented a girlfriend or wife listening to their male partner practicing something in the shower, most often an impression like doing the Borat voice, among other examples.

Origin

On February 20th, 2022, season 2, episode 7 of Euphoria titled "The Theater and Its Double" aired on HBO. In one scene, Cassie Howard (played by Sydney Sweeney) goes to the bathroom where she has a mental breakdown and starts crying, smiling and fixing her hair in the mirror.^[1][2]

On February 20th, X^[3] user @DeviantReaction posted the scene, receiving over 60 likes in two years. Also that day, YouTuber^[4] neezz posted the full scene, gaining over 369,800 views in two years (shown below).

Spread

Going into 2022, meme creators used the scene in viral content. For instance, an early viral example was posted by X^[5] user @maybeeevirgo on July 14th, 2022, who captioned a screencap, "just stalked his following," earning over 81,000 likes in two years (shown below, left).

On December 23rd, 2023, Tumblr^[6] user i-know-you-wanna-kiss-me posted a GIF of the scene, captioned with a repeated New Year, New Me, receiving over 12,300 notes in five months (shown below, right).

On May 19th, 2024, X^[7] user @timeimmemorial_ tweeted an edited version of the scene that added the sound of a male voice practicing a Tony Soprano impression in the shower. The video was captioned, "my girl listening to me work on my tony soprano impression in the shower before we head out to have dinner with friends," gaining over 47,000 likes in two days (shown below).

Other meme creators posted similar tweets soon after, like X^[8] user @bigcontentguy on May 20th, who altered the caption to reference Tucker Carlson, gaining over 18,000 likes in a day (shown below).
