About
Twice is a nine member K-pop girl group that was officially established in 2015. Formed by JYP Entertainment through the reality competition television series Sixteen, they made their debut that same year with the EP The Story Begins
History
Twice was formed in 2015 by South Korean entertainment company JYP Entertainment through their co-produced survival/talent show with Mnet, Sixteen. In the show, sixteen trainees would compete to become a part of an upcoming girl group from the company. Running between May and July of that year, of the sixteen trainees on the show, Twice's final lineup would consist of Im "Nayeon" Na-yeon, Yoo "Jeongyeon" Jeong-yeon, Mina Myoi, Kim "Dahyun" Da-hyun, Sana Minatozaki, Son "Chaeyoung" Chae-young, and Park "Jihyo" Ji-hyo. Choi "Tzuyu" Tzu-yu was added through the audience vote, and, in a slightly controversial choice due to lack of clarity, Momo Hirai was added in the final episode of the series by A&R, despite being eliminated previously.
The group officially made their debut on October 20th, 2015 as Twice with their single "Like Ooh-Ahh" off their debut EP The Story Begins. On February 24th, 2017, the group made their Japanese debut with the EP What's Twice?, consisting of Japanese language versions of songs from their previous Korean EPs.
