About
Perrin is a character who appears in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC chapter titled "The Teal Mask." After she was revealed in an August 8th, 2023, trailer, she quickly attracted a lot of attention on social media and was speculated to be a descendant of Adaman from Pokémon Legends Arceus. Perrin rapidly became a favorite among the video game's fandom, subsequently being referenced in memes, fan art and other social media posts.
Origin
On August 8th, 2023, Pokémon held a "Pokémon Presents" presentation on YouTube that discussed the upcoming Scarlet and Violet DLC packs, "The Teal Mask" and "The Indigo Disk," among other things. In the trailer for "The Teal Mask," Pokémon revealed Perrin, a photographer who appears to send the player on photography-based missions (shown below).
Spread
The character was a swift fan favorite among viewers of the presentation. On August 8th, 2023, Twitter user @foureverboyryan[1] was among the first to suggest that Perrin was a descendant of Adaman from Pokémon Legends Arceus, gaining over 170 retweets and 930 likes in less than two hours (shown below, left). The same day, user @Truegreen7[2] joked that they had instantly become a fan account for Perrin, "the best character in the franchise," gaining over 60 retweets and 300 likes in one hour.
Fan art for Perrin also began appearing shortly after the presentation. For example, on August 8th, Twitter user @K0T0H1KA[3] posted artwork of Perrin, gaining over 400 retweets and 970 likes in 30 minutes (shown below, left). The same day, user @Victifreak[4] posted Perrin art that gained 13 likes in 10 minutes (shown below, right).
