Origin

On October 18th, 2023, the modeling simulator Dress To Impress^[1] was released on Roblox. The game features a series of modeling poses that your character can reproduce on the runway to achieve more points, including the infamous "Pose 28," which makes the character stand with their legs wide open and a stiff posture.

On February 19th, 2024, TikTok^[2] user @empireadr posted one of the earliest viral mentions of the "pose 28" (shown below), which amassed more than 1.9 million plays and 51,000 likes in four months.

In April 2024, pose 28 in Dress to Impress started to be used as a meme source in the K-pop fandom. For example, on April 25th, 2024, TikTok^[3] user @wooyostwin posted a clip of the ZEROBASEONE K-pop boy band captioning "Gunwook hit em with pose 28," which garnered more than 273,000 plays and 49,000 likes in a month (seen below, left).

On May 15th, TikTok^[4] user @bellybabygibbi posted a POV meme captioned "POV: your bestie did pose 28 during senior awards," which received over 273,000 plays and 3,000 likes in a day (seen below, right).
