Propeller Hat Dog is a reaction image featuring a low-quality or moldy image of a white dog wearing a propeller hat and holding a lollypop in a Garry's Mod landscape. The image is edited to make it appear as though the dog has a small, childlike body, dressed in a yellow T-shirt and red shorts while holding a large lollipop. The Propeller Hat Dog was created by Tumblr user @justkleinerthoughts and Steam user Tones3D, who refer to him as "Roscoe." The image was popularized on X / Twitter in 2024 as a part of a "How It Feels To X" phrasal template, with people using the photo of the animal as a means to express childlike or juvenile behavior.

Origin

The image of the happy-looking dog wearing a propeller hat in the meme originally came from a September 6th, 2022, post from Tumblr^[9] user @justkleinerthoughts that read, "17 posionous stingers…and still we kiss and hug himm." The post gathered over 5,000 notes in two years.

In a November 29th, 2022, post on Tumblr user @justkleinerthoughts's blog, the dog makes a reappearance alongside a similarly dressed kitten. The dog can be seen holding a swirly lollipop and wearing a yellow Minion shirt, red shorts and a propeller hat. The post gathered over 8,000 likes in two years.

The edited image of the dog was then inserted into a Garry's Mod addon for Nextbot uploaded to Steam^[8] on January 10th, 2024. The mod was created by user Tones3D and titled, "Roscoe the Friendly Nextbot."

The description reads:

Now you too can have a living representation of having garry's mod in the late 2000's!
Woscoe or Roscoe is a propeller hat puppy, that doesn't attack the player
Roscoe is a friendly nextbot that will avoid the player and explore happily.

The earliest known meme using the image of the smiling dog wearing a propeller hat and holding a giant lollipop was posted to X^[1] / Twitter on October 17th, 2022, by @gappyepic. The post gathered over 30,000 likes before it was deleted. Tumblr^[2] user @themysteriousmurasamecastle reposted the image on October 17th as well, gathering over 22,000 likes in two years.

In September 2023, the image made an appearance on 4chan's /lgbt/ forums, as seen in posts from September 7th and September 10th.^[3][4]

On October 6th, 2024, X^[5] user @kat1enotfound made a post that read, "this is how it feels to tie ur shoe in public." The post gathered over 300,000 likes in three weeks.

On October 18th, X^[6] user @rationalthot96 wrote, "this is how it feels to blow ur nose in public," gathering over 182,000 likes in four days.

On October 21st, 2024, X^[7] user @TiggyPaw posted a recreated HD version of the meme, gathering over 33,000 likes on a post that read, "how it feels using my paychecks for arcade trips while my coworkers are using theirs to support their families."
