Saying This, She Casually Threw Aside A Large Rock is a quote from the anime Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (Daily Lives of High School Boys), associated with the secondary character Habara. The scene and quote have since been used as a redraw meme featuring different characters from popular anime and video games.

Origin

In the extra chapter 81-1 of the manga Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, three of the female protagonists talk about fighting each other, but Yanagin and Ikushima promptly backpedal after Habara dramatically escalates the situation.

Upon hearing them claim that they were joking, Habara smiles and throws away a rock that she had concealed and in all likelihood was planning to use as a weapon.

In the anime adaptation, this chapter was turned into the post-credit scene of episode 11, first aired on March 19th, 2012 (seen below).^[1]

Subtitled screenshots of the anime scene have since been used unmodified as a reaction image, or edited and redrawn to fit a different context. Stills from the scene were reposted to opti-mized's Tumblr^[2] page on October 18th, 2016, where the post gathered over 125,000 notes in eight years.

Spread

On December 19th, 2017, Tumblr^[3] user @enecoo posted the earliest known use of the image as a reaction meme, gathering over 64,000 notes on a post joking about how Boku no Hero Academia is bad (seen below, left). A November 25th, 2018 post on the subreddit DDLC^[4] gathered over 2,000 upvotes on an edited version of the meme (seen below, right).

On July 7th, 2020, Redditor^[6] /u/Astrohungry posted a version of the meme to /r/HollowKnightMemes, gathering over 900 upvotes on a post captioned, "When MatPat makes a highly controversial Game Theory" (seen below, left). On January 26th, 2019, X^[5] user @ludwikia posted a Mob Psycho redraw of the scene and gathered over 1,000 likes in five years (seen below, right).
