Sitting in A Chair TikTok Slideshows refers to a trend on TikTok where users post videos of image slideshows of themselves sitting in a chair in various locations like parking lots and drive-thrus. The trend started from a video posted in July 2021 but gained more attention in September 2021 as additional TikTokers participated in it.

Origin

On July 22nd, 2021, TikToker^[1] @ryan_swag_mobile uploaded a video of an image slideshow where each picture is of him and his friend sitting down in a chair placed in front of a bathroom sink. The video (shown below) received roughly 76,000 plays and 17,000 likes over the course of two months.

Spread

On September 13th, 2021, TikToker @primordialwalter uploaded a video of an image slideshow where each picture is of him sitting in an empty movie theater. The photos are each taken from different angles or vantage points and the video ends with someone falling down and spilling popcorn in the theater hallway. The TikTok^[2] (shown below) received roughly 1.1 million plays and 359,000 likes over the course of one week.

On September 18th, 2021, @primordialwalter uploaded another video carrying the trend forward. This time, the photo slideshow consisted of him sitting in a chair at a bowling alley. As the photos progress, he moves closer to the pins. The TikTok^[3] (shown below, left) received roughly 1 million plays and 342,000 likes over the course of three days. Two days later, on September 20th, 2021, @primordialwalter uploaded another photo slideshow to TikTok in which each photograph he progressively moves through a drive-thru by just sitting in an unmoving chair. The TikTok^[4] (shown below, right) received roughly 1.6 million plays and 464,000 likes over the course of one day.

On September 20th, 2021, more TikTokers began imitating @primordialwalter, such as TikToker @emmadilemma44, who uploaded a similar sitting in a chair slideshow taking place in a drive-thru. Her TikTok^[5] received roughly 26,000 plays and 5,500 likes in less than 24 hours.
