About

Snotty Boy Glow Up refers to a series of videos parodying Glow Up transformations that imagine Eugene "Snotty Boy" Beady from Barnyard growing up to be Hal Stewart / Tighten the villain from the film Megamind. The videos are usually set to the song "Close Eyes" by DVRST.

Origin

On September 24th, 2021, TikTok user @federicogarzia0 posted the first iteration of the meme, captioning the TIkTok "Plantilla en hd papus." The video gained over 729,000 likes in two weeks (shown below).

Spread

Over the following week, other users on TikTok tweaked the original video either by labeling each character with different attributes or by changing the second half of the video, giving Snotty Kid negative qualities and the character in the second half superior qualities. For example, on September 29th, 2021, user @pumpkinsmemes posted a video ironically illustrating the superiority of bigoted Sigma Males, gaining over 492,000 likes (shown below, left). On October 4th, user @arnold.der.aller.echte posted an edit that used Metro Man in the second half of the video, gaining over 489,000 likes (shown below, right).

The meme saw some spread on YouTube, mostly in template posts and meme compilations. For example, on September 29th, user SFX 34 posted a template for the meme, gaining over 41,000 views (shown below, left). On October 7th, user "whoamI huh?" posted a compilation of the meme using mostly TikTok videos, gaining over 2,000 views in less than 24 hours (shown below, right).

From how I've seen it used it's closer to the expanding brain meme. Usually starts with something as "Snotty" that then gets defeated by the Titan character, and then that gets defeated by Megaman, and there can be more layers.
