About

Barnyard is a 2006 CG animated film from Nickelodeon, which was later spun off into a TV series. While initially released to poor reception, the film and series have gained a small cult following and ironic fandom.

History

A Pilot called The Barnyard was lost that also was on YouTube until, Barnyard was released in theaters on August 4, 2006. Despite negative reviews, the film was a commercial success, grossing $116 million worldwide against a $51 million budget.

Back at The Barnyard

On September 29, 2007, Back at the Barnyard premiered on Nickelodeon. The series lasted for two seasons, which ran from 2007 to 2011.

Reception

The film and series were negatively received upon release. The film has a 22% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.6 user rating on IMDb, while the series has a 5.7 rating on the same site.

Despite initial negative reception, the show has gained somewhat of a cult following and an ironic fandom similar to Shrek and Bee Movie. As of 2016, "Back at the Barnyard" yields 711 results on DeviantArt and over 24,000 results on YouTube.

Biggie Cheese



Biggie Cheese is a character featured in the movie. Named after the deceased rapper Biggie Smalls, the character gained much notoriety online after being featured in a series of screenshots depicting an erotic chat conversation.

Dr. Pig

Dr. Pig is an anthropomorphic pig character in the Nickelodeon computer-animated TV show Back at the Barnyard wearing a lab coat and stethoscope. Online the character has been parodied in Tumblr blogs and an image macro series often captioned with variations of the phrase “I diagnose you with dead”, a play on the English translation of “Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru” (translation: “You Are Already Dead”) from Fist of the North Star.

Viewer Mail Time

Viewer Mail Time is a scene from the Nickelodeon computer-animated TV show Back at the Barnyard where the character Pig interrupts a scene for viewer mail. It has been used in YouTube remix videos in which the scene interrupts a dramatic scene from another piece of media.

Perhaps

Perhaps refers to an image of cow Otis from 2006 animated film Barnyard paired with the caption "Perhaps". Starting in 2017, the image macro has been circulated online as a subtle, safe way of saying yes.
