About

"You're a Villain Alright, Just Not a Super One" is a memorable quote said by 2010 animated film Megamind character Megamind. Online, a still image of Brainbot Megamind from the film paired with the quote has been used as an image macro.

Origin

On November 5th, 2010, animated film Megamind premiered in the United States.[1] In one scene of the film, protagonist Megamind tells character Hal Stewart that he considers him a villain, but not a supervillain.

On December 30th, 2018, iFunny user RedLeader posted a four-panel image based on the scene, with the post receiving over 91,000 smiles in eight months (shown below).[2]

The exact first meme based on the format is unknown. On February 3rd, 2019, several Reddit users posted meme based on the captioned still from the scene, with the post by Redditor gabo2k4 receiving over 8,700 upvotes in six months (shown below, left).[3][4]
