SpongeBob "Dude… Fuck, Yes" is a Freakbob reaction image of SpongeBob SquarePants smiling with his arms crossed and top text reading, "Dude… fuck, yes." The meme first started spreading online in early 2024 and became increasingly popular throughout the year, continuing to go viral in January 2025.
Origin
On January 15th, 2024, Instagram[1] user s0upcat posted a meme consisting of an image of SpongeBob with his arms crossed run through the Rio De Janeiro Instagram filter covered in text reading, "dude, fuck yes," garnering over 400 likes in a year. It is unlikely that this is the true origin of the meme, however, this is the earliest known user to share a version of it.
While this is the earliest known user to post the image, the more common version of the meme is more simple. On January 20th, 2024, it was posted by iFunny[2] user ksji76q0ck4852, garnering around 14 smiles in a year. This is the earliest known user to post the simpler version of the meme.
Spread
The meme garnered viral spread over the following months, mostly as a reaction image. On October 4th, 2024, X[3] user Fallenchungus posted the meme, writing, "this is the funniest image ever why would you use this anywhere," garnering over 136,000 likes in three months.
On October 11th, Nick Fuentes posted the meme on X[4] as a response to a post by @ZherkaOfficial reading, "You will be awesome," garnering over 2,000 likes in three months.
On November 10th, X[5] user @oomfabelle posted the meme, writing, "Saying 'whatever' and moving on with a positive mindset," garnering over 68,000 likes in two months.
On December 13th, Instagram[6] user gang_happiness_on_ig posted a version of the meme captioned, "When you lowkey open up your heart again and realize the love was always inside you," garnering over 35,000 likes in a month.
On January 28th, 2025, X[7] user @saltydkdan posted a screenshots of a Discord conversation in which he sent the reaction image to someone, who sent him back a green-tinted version of the meme, garnering over 31,000 likes in under a day.
