On April 25th, 2019, Imgur ^[1] user ADashOfCloakAndALotOfKnives posted the earliest known version of the image with the caption "When you look at a meme for 30 sec then you notice it is an ad." In less than one month, the post received more than 2,000 points and 96,000 views (shown below).

That day, Redditor ^[2] shared the meme on the /r/dankmemes subreddit, where it received more than 30,000 points (97% upvoted) and 85 comments.
