Pirates of the Caribbean is a Disney media franchise. Initially beginning as a ride at Disneyland 1967, the film The Curse of the Black Pearl was released in 2003. The franchise later spun off multiple sequels, as well as numerous tie-in novels and video games. It is in the top 20 highest-grossing film series of all time.
