Sus Dogs or Suspicious Dogs refers to images of dogs with suspicious or suspect looks on their faces as if they're up to no good or are staring at someone they think is suspicious, as well as images of dogs doing suspicious things. Sus dog images and videos became increasingly popular in the late 2010s and early 2020s around the time "sus" became a popular online slang term due to the popularity of Among Us.

Origin

Suspicious Dog

On September 26th, 1999, episode 227 of The Simpsons aired. At the end of the episode there is a dog who shifts his eyes back and forth as if suspicious of something (shown below). As early as 2010 an image of the dog began to see use in memes, known colloquially as the "Suspicious Dog." An early meme was uploaded to JoyReactor[3] on March 30th, 2010 (shown below, left).

On January 14th, 2021, Redditor Mikaotic25 posted a photograph to /r/pics[1] of a dog that looks like an impostor from Among Us at the angle of the photo, gaining over 500 upvotes in 10 months (shown below). On January 15th, Instagram[2] page goofed.goober posted the image with the Among Us theme song playing over it, gaining over 63,000 views in 10 months *deleted).

On July 20th, YouTuber itsjustbenjie uploaded a video titled "sus dog" showing a dog sitting on the couch slowly smiling as the camera zooms into his face, the Among Us song playing in the background (shown below). The video gained over 2.2 million views in six months (shown below).

On November 4th, a Tenor[5] user uploaded a GIF of a wiener dog with a suspicious look. The image has been used as a reaction on TikTok.[6] It is unknown where the image is originally sourced from. On November 28th, YouTuber[4] Whirow posted an edit titled "sus dog💀" using videos of various sus dogs throughout, gaining over 19,600 views in three months (shown below).
