Overview
The Sydney Sweeney and Katherine Stoeffel GQ Interview refers to an interview with actress Sydney Sweeney conducted by GQ interviewer and Features Director Katherine Stoeffel in early November 2025. Clips from the interview quickly went viral on social media platforms like Twitter / X, notably including one clip in which Stoeffel questioned Sweeney on her 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' American Eagle Ad that many criticized at the time of its release for what they perceived as hinting at white eugenics. In the clip, Sweeney responded to Stoeffel's probing with, "I think that when I have an issue that I want to speak about, people will hear."
Many on X and other platforms portrayed her comment as a refusal to disavow the ad's purported undertones. In turn, several viral posts surfaced online, which criticized Sweeney's remarks, while some defended her response. Alternatively, meme creators turned Stoeffel and Sweeney into a two-panel meme format, which commonly powerscaled their appearances and expressions. Some likened Stoeffel to the term Millennial Smirk and Sweeney to the Gen Z Stare. The viral posts largely portrayed Sweeney as dominating the interaction. Some X users inserted other interview subjects into the format while keeping the screencap of Stoeffel.
