Team Fortress Class Cards refers to a series of memes based on images of 2007 multiplayer video game Team Fortress 2 in-game classes such as Engineer, Medic, Sniper and others. Starting in July 2019, the format has been used to humorously highlight one's abilities (or lack thereof) the aforementioned fields.

Origin

On July 10th, 2019, Redditor Bryanchox posted a meme based on a promotional image for a figurine of Team Fortress 2 in-game class Engineer (shown below).^[1][2] The post in /r/dankmemes gained over 83,000 upvotes in one week, with reposts to /r/pcmasterrace and /r/tf2shitposterclub gaining additional 15,400 and 2,400 upvotes within the same time frame.^[3][4]

Spread

In the following days, more images based on this and other captioned images of Team Fortress 2 classes such as Medic, Sniper and others were posted on Reddit. For example, on July 10th, 2019, Redditor Blu_Soldier001 posted a meme based on a promotional image for a Sniper class figurine, with the post gaining over 22,700 upvotes in one week (shown below).^[5]
