The Other Cavaliers is a 2018 Saturday Night Live skit about the members of the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA team who aren't LeBron James, in which they comedically list all of the useful things they can do for the team that don't involve playing basketball, since LeBron has that covered.

The skit was uploaded to the SNL YouTube page on May 6th, 2018. It became the subject of memes on Instagram Reels and TikTok in early August 2026. As a meme, the video or excerpts from it are often used to call something pointless or useless, either through lip dubs or as a piece of reaction content.

Origin

On May 6th, 2018, the Saturday Night Live YouTube^[1] channel uploaded a skit that was cut for time featuring actors Donald Glover, Kenan Thompson, Pete Davidson, Kyle Mooney, Mikey Day, Luke Null, Chris Redd and Heidi Gardner, in which they play the members of the Cleveland Cavaliers who aren't basketball star LeBron James.

In the skit, each player talks about the things they're good at that aren't related to basketball that help LeBron thrive, including giving him a high five after a free throw, massaging his back, doing his laundry and more.

In August 2026, the skit went viral on Instagram Reels and TikTok as the subject of memes. The memes typically use the clip to call something out for being useless.

One of the earliest known examples was posted on July 28th, 2026 by Instagram^[2] user ddavinc1, in which the clip is used by the poster to call their team in Marvel Rivals useless, garnering over 14,800 likes in two weeks.

The Other Cavaliers meme continued to spread online in August 2026 as it was referenced in various memes and jokes.

On August 4th, 2026, TikToker^[3] @.road52 posted a version of the meme that uses the clip to call New Brunswick, Canada, useless, gaining over 55,500 views in a week.

On August 5th, TikToker^[4] @bssuperd posted a version of the meme that uses the clip to call the other sections of the TikTok app, including the "community" and "Shop" sections, useless, garnering over 660,000 views in six days.

Later that day, TikToker^[5] @ichigoman3 posted a version of the meme that calls several members of The Avengers, including Thor, Iron Man and Captain America, useless, garnering over 417,000 views in six days.

On August 9th, 2026, Instagram^[6] user squidysgalaxy posted a version of the meme that calls out several suits of armor in Minecraft for being useless, garnering over 125,000 likes in two days.
