Timmy Fan Edits or the Timmy Trend, named after Timothee Chalamet, refers to a series of TikTok fan edits and parodies of those edits which use the 2015 song "Play Date" by Melanie Martinez.[2] The trend featuring slow-motion clips of celebrities became popular in April 2020.

Origin

On April 17th, 2020, TikToker sandy.0234 uploaded the first Timmy Trend edit which included clips of Timothee Chalamet, Tom Holland, Harry Styles and Dylan O'Brien (shown below). The video garnered over 3.1 million likes in a month.

On April 19th, 2020, TikToker weaestheticing made a Timmy Trend parody video featuring Big Ed (shown below, left). The video gained over 1.6 million likes in three weeks. The next day, TikToker kevtober created a female celebrity version that accumulated over 1.5 million likes in three weeks (shown below, center). On April 21st, TikToker calebhickey03 uploaded a video mocking the trend and received over 2.1 million likes in three weeks.

On April 26th, YouTuber Traccy Lenz uploaded a Timmy Trend Tutorial which garnered over 28,800 views and 1,000 likes in two weeks (shown below). The next day, YouTuber Tiktokly[1] uploaded a compilation video that garnered over 98,600 views in two weeks.
