About
Tutel is a misspelling of "turtle" inspired by a viral video on YouTube in which a man observes a turtle in his pool and, in an accent, says "turtle." He later posted an edited version of the video, playing a song after saying "turtle." The video went on to be widely remixed on YouTube in 2021, and Tutel also became a prevalent nickname for the T95 tank in the video game War Thunder.
Origin
On May 19th, 2021, Facebook user James Alabus Arcinas[1] posted a video in which he sees a turtle in his pool and says "Turtle." He also posted the video to YouTube on June 2nd, where it gained over 83,000 views in roughly one year (shown below, left). On May 20th, he posted an edited version in which the song "2:23 AM" by Sharou plays after he says "Turtle." On June 2nd, he then reposted it to YouTube, gaining over 48,000 views in one year (shown below, right).
Spread
On May 21st, 2021, YouTuber[2] Jeremehhh reposted the edited clip, gaining over 1 million views in a year (shown below).
The Jeremehhh upload helped the clip go viral, and shortly after the post, remixes of the "Tutel" video began appearing on YouTube. On June 29th, 2021, YouTuber[3] BROUQEN posted an hour-long edit of the video, gaining over 141,000 views in one year (shown below, left). The video began going viral within the War Thunder community, as the T95 tank was dubbed "Tutel." On October 2nd, YouTuber Munitions posted War Thunder gameplay that transitioned into a "Tutel" remix, gaining over 111,000 views in roughly seven months (shown below, right).
