Origin
The original image (seen above) was originally posted by Tumblr user ouaka[1] on October 13th, 2013[2]. It has since been deleted[2]. Surviving blogs record the image gathering over 92,000 notes on Tumblr.[3]
Spread
One of the earliest usages (shown below, left) was by Tumblr user atrociouss on November 17th, 2013.[4] It gathered over 62,000 notes in over three years. On August 12th, 2014, a variation (shown below, right) was posted to Tumblr by furbearingbrick.[5] It garnered over 900 notes in over two years.
On February 2nd, 2015, fullhousememes2 uploaded a version (shown below, left) to Tumblr involving the YouTube channel The Report of the Week.[6] In 2 years it got over 5000 notes. Tumblr user milkandcooki posted one variation (shown below, right) on November 1st, 2015, referencing the children's show Caillou and the anime One Punch Man.[7] It garnered nearly 13,000 notes in about half a year.
