Worried Hiroshi Uchiyamada GTO GIF is a reaction GIF of the character Hiroshi Uchiyamada from the anime Great Teacher Onizuka. In the GIF, Hiroshi's face changes from calm to worried as he drives his car.

Origin

On January 23rd, 2000, the episode "Lesson 18: How to Dine and Dash"^[1] of Great Teacher Onizuka aired in Japan. In the episode, the character Hiroshi Uchiyamada drives his new car, a Cresta, as he enjoy the ride, he begins to think about a student at school that destroyed his car in the class. As he thinks, his face changes from calm to concerned, which lips dripping to the bottom of his face as his eyes widen (shown below).

On December 3rd, 2014, Imgur user wonderwallboy posted the earliest know video of the image with the caption "When I remember something embarrassing from 10 years ago.." The post received more than 77,000 views, 14,000 upvotes and 350 comments in less than seven years (shown below).

On June 25th, 2015, Imgur^[5] user Khannnnnnnnnnnnnn posted the video wit the caption, "Never trust a fart." The post received more than 455,000 views in less than six years.

On July 2nd, 2015, Redditor CaptainGroin published the earliest available GIF of the scene in the /r/reactiongifs^[2] subreddit. They captioned the image "MRW I realize 30 minutes into my journey that I left my groceries on the roof." The post received more than 8,600 points (90% upvoted) and 200 comments in less than six years (shown below).

Over the next five years, the meme continued to spread on Reddit, Memedroid and Twitter, among other platforms, becoming a popular reaction for surprising and uncomfortable situations. On July 9th, 2016, for example, Memedroid^[3] user eduardo.fierro.ef shared a variation of the meme that included text "La Cartulina." The post received more than 1,200 upvoted (91% upvoted) in less five years (shown below, left).

In 2020, the meme grew in popularity on Reddit, where variations of the GIF spread on various subreddit. On November 15th, 2020, for example, Redditor malnourished_child shared a variation of the meme, replacing the background with a veterinarians office, in the /r/dankmemes subreddit with the caption "My dog when it wakes up from the operation and goes to lick its balls." The post received 50,000 points (97% upvoted) and 100 comments in less than two months (shown below, center).

The following week, Redditor Refrigerator10 shared a variation of the meme in the /r/memes^[4] that they captioned "When you realize you forgot to make it a gif." The post received more than 42,000 points (93% upvoted) and 290 comments in less than three months (shown below, right).
