About
XQC Despair is a Twitch emote and .gif meme that uses the face of popular streamer XQC. The emote can be described as a moving and visual translation of the Traumatized Mr. Incredible format.
Origin
The emote was first uploaded to the website BetterTwitch, which is used as a hub for emotes, on October 5th, 2021 by the user WILLIAMSHAKESPARE[1], and it features XQC looking solemn in grayscale with a solid black outline for the rest of the image (shown below).
Spread
On January 29th, 2022, the emote xqcDespair was combined with a quick clip of XQC laughing to create the contrasting .gif where XQC goes from laughing to serious, and uploaded to Tenor by the user DefinitelyEnder[2] (shown below).
On April 13th, 2022, the r/Dankmemes Subreddit had an upload from Redditor[3] CoolDude-6_9 which uses the meme to make a joke about male masturbation, earning 12,000 upvotes in two days (shown below).
