Yaman refers to a green Angry Birds pig with a Roblox face that's paired with the song "Memoir #2" by May Roosevelt in video memes. The original Yaman video was uploaded to YouTube in late 2022, eventually leading to more videos and memes about Yaman's rival Gringo who's the eagle from the Staring Eagle meme, also known as Marvin Beak.

Origin

On October 1st, 2022, YouTuber[1] GGbanditt uploaded a video titled, "Yaman 11.12.2022," that showed a green pig from Angry Birds with a Roblox Face and the song "Memoir #2" by May Roosevelt[2] playing as the audio. The video gained roughly 610,200 views and 38,000 likes in six months (shown below).

YouTuber GGbanditt surfaced the image from a photo slideshow uploaded by TikToker[3] @hatekzb on September 18th, 2022, that earned roughly 19,100 plays and 2,800 likes in seven months. TikToker @hatekzb got the image from a currently unknown TikToker named @cuandalious. It is currently unknown who the original creator of the Yaman image is, however, it was uploaded to the /r/angrybirds[4] subreddit as early as June 12th, 2022.

Spread

After the virality of YouTuber[1] GGbanditt's video, other video creators started to upload variations. For instance, the first-known variation was uploaded by YouTuber[5] Never gonna give you up / Never gonna let you down / N on December 6th, 2022, which was an "extended" version of Yaman. The video gained roughly 151,900 views and 8,300 likes in four months (shown below, left). On December 11th, 2022, YouTuber[6] The Predhulk Chronicles posted a video called, "Yaman 12.11.2022," gaining roughly 68,600 views and 4,300 likes in four months (shown below, right).

Yaman vs. Gringo

On December 11th, 2022, YouTuber[7] GGbanditt uploaded a new video called, "Gringo 3.3.2023," which used the Staring Eagle image, effectively adding a new character to the Yaman lore. The video received roughly 123,200 views and 6,100 likes in four months (shown below, left). Others reiterated the new character, such as YouTuber[8] Moose Meese on December 17th, 2022, in a video called, "On the verge of madness." The video received roughly 34,900 views and 1,800 likes in four months (shown below, right).

Going into 2023, Yaman and Gringo videos spread across YouTube.[9]
