You, Me, Gas Station, also known as the Gas Station Sushi Copypasta, is a copypasta and viral video consisting of an increasingly random story including passages about getting gas station sushi, having a fish orgy, overthrowing the government and greening out. In the video, a man tells the story to a woman with his forehead pressed against hers as closely as possible. The copypasta and video went viral on sites including Reddit, YouTube and TikTok starting in mid-2020, inspiring animations and memes referencing the video and using its audio.

Origin

On May 23rd, 2020, Redditor xiixxkxksksks posted a copypasta to /r/copypasta^[1] titled "gas station sushi." The copypasta, which gained roughly 25 upvotes in three years, is presented as follows:

You me the gas station. what meal are we having? Gas station sushi. Hell yes. Uh oh there was a roofy in our gas station sushi. We wake up in a sewer full of fish. Horny fish. What does that mean? Fish orgy. The stench draws in a bear. Bear fight? Bare fists? Bare… Naked? I think so! We befriend the bear after beating it into a brawl. We ride it into a chucky cheese. Dance dance revolution! On May 24th, 2020, YouTuber^[2] RASU posted a video where a man with his head pressed against a woman's head recites the copypasta to her, albeit not word-for-word, garnering over 789,000 views in three years (shown below). This is the earliest available upload of the video, but it is unclear if this is the original.

The video gained viral spread over the following months. It was reuploaded by YouTuber^[3] VhrEg12WaM 5hnig8OXvh on May 27th, 2020, garnering over 559,000 views in three years. On June 3rd, TikToker^[4] @th3_stateler posted the video, gaining over 6 million views in the same rough span of time. On June 5th, it was posted to /r/perfectlycutscreams,^[5] garnering over 1,300 upvotes. On August 27th, YouTuber^[6] polypawns posted an animation set to the audio, garnering over 2.5 million views in three years (shown below).

On November 10th, TikToker^[7] @ant_al_el posted an animation set to the audio, garnering over 3.4 million views in three years (shown below).

On February 14th, 2021, YouTube^[8] user PaperKitty posted a Roblox animation using the audio, garnering over 416,000 views in two years (shown below, left). On April 21st, it was posted to /r/shitposting,^[9] garnering over 6,300 upvotes in two years, On June 25th, YouTuber^[10] tricøgaming65 uploaded a clip of Jacksepticeye reacting to the video, garnering over 150,000 views in two years (shown below, right).

On November 6th, YouTube^[11] user Benny Blue posted a video where he creates a Google Form consisting of the copypasta set to the audio, garnering over 2 million views in two years (shown below). The video was posted to /r/dankvideos^[12] on September 24th, 2022, garnering over 10,000 upvotes in eight months.
