You Stupid Slut or There's Not Going To Be a Swimming Pool, You Stupid Slut refers to a series of memes based on a scene in American Horror Story in which actress Jessica Lange, playing Constance Langdon, says to Frances Conroy, playing Moira O'Hara, "There's not going to be a swimming pool, you stupid slut," after O'Hara, a ghost, expresses concerns that her body will be found buried in the backyard. The scene appears in American Horror Story season one, episode seven, which aired in 2011. It became the subject of memes as early as 2014, including use as a reaction image and recaption meme in which "swimming pool" is replaced with something else.

Origin

On November 16th, 2011, season one, episode seven of American Horror Story aired. In the episode, Moira O'Hara expresses concerns that her body will be uncovered in the backyard when people start digging to install an underground pool. Constance Langdon responds, "There's not going to be a swimming pool, you stupid slut."

On June 16th, 2014, Tumblr^[1] user yeezus-fish posted a captioned screenshot of the scene, writing, "when a stupid slut asks if there's gonna be a swimming pool," garnering over 592,000 notes in 10 years.

The meme garnered viral spread over the following years, inspiring new variants recaptioning the original subtitles in the image. On August 31st, 2018, a screenshot of the post was posted to the subreddit /r/tumblr,^[2] garnering over 1,200 upvotes in six years.

On October 19th, 2019, Tumblr^[3] user lunah-goodbye posted a version of the meme reading, "There's not going to be a magical adventure you stupid slut," attaching it to a post about fantasy novels, garnering over 214,000 notes in five years. It was reposted to iFunny^[4] on February 7th, 2020, garnering over 38,000 smiles in four years.

On March 4th, Redditor u/hakikigulyabani posted a version of the meme about the video game Dead by Daylight to /r/deadbydaylight,^[5] garnering over 5,000 upvotes in four years. On November 7th, 2024, Tumblr^[7] user redvelvetrevolver posted a version of the meme reading, "There's not going to be cheaper groceries you stupid slut," referencing Donald Trump's win in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, garnering over 33,000 notes in two weeks.
