Your “Package” “Came” In the “Male” is a catchphrase used in a series of memes and posts that paints the phrase “your package came in the mail” as a dirty double entendre referring to gay, male-on-male intimacy. The phrase was first posted to Tumblr in November 2022 by pogaytosalad and went viral over the following months, inspiring memes including image macros using the phrase.

Origin

On November 1st, 2022, Tumblr^[7] user pogaytosalad made a text post reading, "Your 'package' 'came' in the 'male' You say?" garnering over 80,000 notes in a year (shown below).

In a message to a Know Your Meme editor, pogaytosalad offered further context to the post, writing:

"The post was created when a package arrived at my house no more than 5 minutes after I had finished inside of my boyfriend. The post-nut 'clarity' combined with the general exhaustion I experienced caused that phrase to be beamed directly into my vision, and I posted it in bed next to my boyfriend."

Spread

On November 6th, 2022, X^[4] user @gayandsilentsob posted, “Your ‘package’ ‘came’ in the ‘male’ you say?” garnering an unknown number of likes before the account was suspended (shown below).

The phrase and post by @gayandsilentsob gained viral spread that month, including several reposts to Instagram.^[5] On November 7th, X^[1] user @HaydxnLIVE posted, “your ‘package’ ‘came’ in the ‘male’? you’re damn right it did!” garnering around 12 likes in 10 months. On November 9th, X^[2] user @taenzoyaoi made a similar post, garnering over 144,000 likes in the same rough span of time.

On May 18th, 2023, Instagram^[3] user monkey.posting posted an image macro using the same phrase, garnering over 38,000 likes in four months (shown below, left). On June 5th, Instagram^[6] user da_jekyll posted a version of the meme that gained over 5,000 likes in three months (shown below, right).
