You're Doing Amazing, Sweetie is a memorable quote from the reality television series Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Online, the phrase has been adapted as both a catchphrase and a reaction image with a screenshot from the show featuring Kris Jenner pointing her camera at a disrobed Kim Kardashian being used to express encouragement.
Origin
On November 4th, 2007, the fourth episode of season 1 of Keeping Up With The Kardashians entitled "Birthday Suit" premiered.[1] In the episode, after much debate, Kim decides to do a photoshoot for the adult magazine Playboy. Her mother Kris escorts her to the shoot, during which she snapped a few photos on her naked daughter and said, "Kim, you're doing amazing, sweetie."
The moment first appeared online on November 5th, 2014, when BuzzFeed included it on a list entitled "26 Life Lessons Kris Jenner Taught Us All.[2] Coming in at number nine, the list captions a gif of the moment (shown below) "but always be a cheerleader for friends and family."
The following year, the outlet included the moment on another list of "26 Kris Jenner Moments That Make You Laugh Every Time."[3]
Spread
On August 20th, 2016, the Instagram account @kardashianvideos uploaded the moment from the show (shown in origin) with the caption ""Kim you're doing amazing sweetie" 😩😂😭😭😭😭." The post received more than 212,000 views and 5,400 likes in less than a year.[4]
On September 23rd, 2016, Twitter user @FreddyAmazin posted a screencap of the episode with the subtitle of "Kim you're doing amazing sweetie." The font looks very similar to the BuzzFeed gif, however, the user added the caption "me when i see my best friend doing some ho shit." The post (shown below) received more than 2,900 retweets and 7,300 likes, as of July 2017. [5]
Since then, "you're doing amazing sweetie" has become a catchphrase expressing encouragement on Twitter. A February 2nd, 2017 tweet (shown below, left) featuring a picture of actress Taraji P. Henson by Twitter user @daisyrdley received more than 1,100 retweets and 2,000 likes. The picture, taken during the film _Moonlight_'s best picture win at the 2017 Academy Awards, was captioned "Taraji P. Henson bringing 'you're doing amazing sweetie' meme to life when moonlight won."
On July 17th, 2017, Twitter user @spoticry tweeted "Scotland you're doing amazing sweetie" when retweeting a report about Scotland becoming the first country to give free access to female sanitary products.[6] Within two days the tweet (shown below, right) received more than 134,000 retweets and 360,000 likes.
