Grichka Bodganoff, one of the Bogdanoff twins revered by stock and crypto market enthusiasts and memers alike, has died aged 72.

The French television presenter and producer Grichka Bogdanoff, who together with his twin brother Igor achieved insane levels of popularity thanks to being depicted as villians in cryptocurrency and stock market memes, has died aged 72, Mediavenir reports.

Igor and Grichka Bogdanoff, both known for having undergone multiple plastic surgery procedures, achieved meme popularity after in April 2015 their photograph went viral on Reddit's /r/WTF subreddit. From there, the twins were picked up by 4chan, where a meme about the Bogdanoffs controlling entire governments from the shadows soon formed.

Their meme fame was prompted even further after YouTuber Bizonacci turned the twins into villainous puppet masters of the cryptocurrency market, always ready to drive the market into the opposite direction of trader's bets, Bizonacci's meme videos spawned memes such as "He Bought? Dump Eet" and others.

The French presenter was admitted to intensive care with COVID-19 last week.
