Well, you can remove salt from some dishes, actually.
Did you know that potatoes have salt-absorbing properties..? When cooked, that is. So, if you are really, really in a pinch to remove salt from some food, put some cooked potatoes on it. Works for a lot of things except, of course, dishes actually made mostly of potatoes. I tried it on rice one time. It took a while to take effect, but it actually damn worked. The potatoes themselves became inedible due to too much salt, of course, but hey, I had a good rice.
