Last I checked China doesn't give their workers a say in how their labor is used. That and they still have money, they still do business with giant corporations, they are still driven by profit, Democracy is very low on their priority list, and yeah, they are pretty totalitarian.
You do know that a government can call itself whatever it likes, right? The Nazis called themselves Socialists, but they weren't they killed the Socialists. North Korea calls itself a Democratic Republic, but I don't think they have ever held an election.
