Oscar the Grouch Taylor Swift AI Image is an AI-generated image of Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street penetrating American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift from behind (often referred to as "backshots") on top of a pile of garbage. The AI image gained virality and reposts on Twitter / X in late 2023, acting as a piece of shock media and inspiring memes.

Origin

Currently, the first-known upload of the Oscar the Grouch and Taylor Swift AI-generated image was on 4chan's /pol/ ^[1] imageboard on October 17th, 2023 (censored version shown below).

The image gained numerous replies in the days that followed. The AI-generated picture was plausibly made with either Midjourney or Stable Diffusion.

Spread

Going into late October 2023, the image was reshared on 4chan's /pol/^[2] and /x/^[3] imageboards. It spread outside of 4chan on October 28th, 2023, when X^[4] user @DARKFAGG0T9000 posted it, writing, "When was Tay on Sesame Street???" gaining over 90 likes in 12 days (shown below, left).

On November 2nd, Spanish-speaking X^[5] user @fetogay captioned it, "oomf keep liking my stories and we'll end up like this," receiving over 1,200 likes in six days (shown below, right).

The image gained increased virality on November 9th, 2023, when X^[6] user @kirawontmiss posted the Withered Wojak image with a caption reading, "whoever made that Ai generated image of oscar the grouch blowing taylor swift back on a pile of garbage is going to heII," receiving over 28,000 likes in two hours (shown below).

@kirawontmiss' tweet was potentially due to a repost of the AI image uploaded by X^[7] user @FREAKBOULNEWS two hours prior on November 9th, 2023.
