The Weekly Meme Roundup: Mike's Way, Monitoring The Situation, Leanna Perry, Love Island And More

If you, like so many others, have been monitoring the situation this week, you might be able to predict all the memes in this meme roundup. If not, well, you're in the right place.
This week on the internet, ordering Mike's Way became the biggest meme on TikTok, a savage moment from Love Island took over social media, Tucker Carlson said something silly and more.
Here are the five biggest memes that you need to catch up on from the past week.
Monitoring the Situation
A lot of people seem to think that World War III is right around the corner, and this week, those fears inspired memes about the importance of "monitoring the situation."

Memes about monitoring a situation, whatever that situation might be, have been gaining steam all year. They really took off, though, on June 13th, 2025, after Israel launched Operation Rising Lion. This obviously got a lot of people nervous, stoking fears that we could see another world war soon.
Maybe as a way of coping, people on Twitter / X started posting a lot of memes about monitoring "the situation," with the situation in question often remaining vague for the sake of comedy, but sometimes explicitly referencing the Israel-Iran conflict.
The memes tend to paint the monitoring of situations as something that men like to do. Some suggest that monitoring situations can be used as an excuse to doomscroll, while others take a more lighthearted, silly approach to the idea.

Practicing Ordering Mike's Way
If you're a true Jersey Mike's enjoyer, you're probably familiar with the concept of ordering your sandwich "Mike's Way." This week, TikTokers took that concept and forever changed its meaning with the "Practicing Ordering Mike's Way" trend.

When you order your sandwich Mike's Way, usually that means getting onions, lettuce, tomatoes, red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano and salt. Presumably, that's the way Jersey Mike likes it.
Recently, TikTokers started posting videos of themselves practicing ordering their sandwiches Mike's Way, but with a twist. In the videos, the TikTokers mostly try to order Mike's Way without ever using the phrase "Mike's Way," instead saying things like, "Can you let Mike have his way with my sandwich?" and "Tell Mike he can have full custody of my sandwich."
The trend started with TikTokers simply reciting funny ways to order your sandwich Mike's Way while alone in their rooms. Now, it's evolved to the point where TikTokers are filming themselves actually going to Jersey Mike's and repeating the jokes from the viral videos.
If you're reading this and recently got a job at Jersey Mike's, be prepared.

Ace Looking at Amaya Crying
Love Island U.S. is currently in the middle of its seventh season, and one of this week's episodes featured a glare from Ace to Amaya that will undoubtedly go down as one of the best moments in the show's history.

During the episode, contestant Jeremiah, who was coupled with contestant Huda, was recoupled with "bombshell" Iris. A bombshell is a girl brought onto the show late and unexpectedly to compete for the love of the other contestants and essentially stir the pot.
Jeremiah and Huda's relationship has been a mixed bag throughout the season, and clearly, viewers noticed, as the decision to recouple Jeremiah with Iris was made by votes from viewers. Jeremiah's recoupling with Iris meant that Huda was up for elimination, but it was up to the islanders to vote on who to kick off the show.
This got some contestants a little emotional, especially Amaya.
At one moment, while Amaya is crying, contestant Ace flashes her a side-eye that's just as out-of-pocket as it is hilarious. The look has been interpreted as having real hater energy, and some people are even saying it's one of the best moments the show has ever produced.
There's no denying this one will be used as a reaction image among Love Island fans for a long time to come.

Tucker Carlson Asking "How Many People Live In Iran?"
Conservative commentator and broadcast journalist Tucker Carlson is at it again, and this time, he's going viral for asking Texas Senator Ted Cruz, "How many people live in Iran?" in what many are calling an attempt to "gotcha" him.

— Tucker Carlson (@TuckerCarlson) June 18, 2025
Carlson posted the clip to his X page earlier this week. In the clip, Carlson asks Cruz, "How many people live in Iran?" Cruz doesn't know the answer. Carlson jumps on the opportunity to try and make a fool out of Cruz, saying, "You don’t know the population of the country you seek to topple?"
Cruz then tries to reverse the situation on Carlson by asking him the population of Iran, to which he quickly responds, "92 million. How could you not know that?" Cruz wonders why exactly the population is relevant at all to the situation, and the two ramble on for a while, teasing what was surely going to be a viral conversation between the two oft-viral men.
The brief interaction quickly became a meme on Twitter as people edited portions of the conversation to fit other situations and reference pop culture.
For example, a version of the meme referencing the Dune series that has Tucker say, "You say you want to cultivate desert power and you don’t know how many spice fields are on Arrakis?"

Leanna Perry Plane Incident
Finally, there's a new public freakout video going around online for the first time in what feels like a while, and it's known as the "Leanna Perry Plane Incident."
Freak out on a Southwest Airplane byu/Ace-Cuddler inPublicFreakout
The incident went viral on June 17th, when several TikTokers posted different angles of an altercation on a plane. In the videos, a woman in an Ed Hardy trucker hat, now known to be Leanna Perry, is seen arguing with a passenger, calling her fat and even pulling on her hair.
In another video, Perry is seen being kicked off the plane. The videos quickly made their way from TikTok to the internet at large, going viral on the /r/PublicFreakout subreddit and inspiring a whole lot of digging into the woman's identity, as these things tend to do.
As it turns out, Perry has had quite a presence online. Internet sleuths found an article where she calls herself "edgy" for being a conservative in New York and even found her artwork, which features a lot of anime girls and bright colors.
It just goes to show that you never really know who the woman yelling at you on your flight truly is.
