And don’t say you were only doing what Cheswick wanted when they told you to hold off until I attacked. You made a preemptive strike of your own accord.

Cheswick helped me stop the rebellion in Gaul, I owed him. He requested that I send a force of troops his way to bolster his army. That is what I did. I don't personally have an issue with you, I was simply keeping up a deal.

I'm happy your not a wafty group of pacifists like Italy, my offer still stands.

@Triangle Mare

I am pleased to hear it and if by "to serve as its HQ" means to relocate your faction to the Empire then that is okay with me.

Last edited Feb 14, 2016 at 02:41PM EST
Let’s make a deal: I’ll pull completely out of Cheswick (to some unclaimed land in Africa or something), and you call off your allies. We can leave each other alone for the time being.

I'll take you up on that deal, under the following conditions.

1. Members of the Sons of Liberty or any organizations/nations established by the Sons of Liberty will not be permitted entry into any Cheswick territory.
1a. Anyone caught trying to enter Cheswick territory will be arrested, interrogated, and then deported to Sons of Liberty Territory
1b. This clause includes any and all trade between the Sons of Liberty and Cheswick

2. The new nation or organization established by the Sons of Liberty will not be allowed to share a border with Current Cheswick territory.

3. Any members of the Sons of Liberty who do not leave the country of their own volition will be removed by force and sent to the territory or organization established by the Sons of Liberty

If you do not agree to these conditions then the Sons of Liberty will be removed by military force.

I ask that Denmark give me the right to move my military through their lands, they are to be assured that I do not have any tricks up my sleeve.

The Danish see no reason to grant right-of-way except in a situation in which the Empire would make an offensive war against the Commonwealth. In such a war, the Danes would prefer not to have their country become a battlefield. Thus, they have declined to allow your armies access.

Laika wrote:

With the peace treaty in place Bulgaria, Byzantium and Athens are ordered to abolish the anti-Hungarian coalition and keep the peace. If they accept there will be no further incursions into their lands by Hungary and they remain as they are. Any hostility shown by them will result in their forced annexation

The coalition has rejected your ultimatum. They are agreed that their alliance is the only thing stopping unbridled Hungarian expansion and that the Empire's intention with dissolving the coalition is to further Hungarian domination of the Balkans.

Laika wrote:

Hungary is to be notified of the above correspondence and reminded that “no further incursions” is a complete lie. The Balkans are to be pacified for a moment whilst we deal with more pressing matters, namely the Commonwealth. The Balkans will come afterward.

The Hungarians respond saying that they have no ambitions over Commonwealth territory and would desire to avoid war with them if possible. They appreciate the efforts to break up the coalition, however, and have made assurances that they are doing their best to do the same.

@Laika
The Guild's main structures are deeply tied to Cheswick itself, however each chapter has a rather big autonomy – thus, Amsterdam would be the "Imperial Chapter" HQ, not the main base itself. In any case, we will begin to operate there shortly. We expect slight autonomy when it comes to governing the city and representation in the city council. Amsterdam would not defect from the Empire, but rather be granted something of a "free city" status, like Danzig, Stockholm or Riga.

@Syndic,

Danish neutrality is to be respected and left at that.

The coalition's response is thrown out, war it is then.

The Hungarians are to understand that, even though they do not desire Commonwealth territory, they are now apart of the anti-Hungarian coalition and should expect hostility from the North.

A new and absolute final battle plan is to be offered, The Empire will send its full force at the Balkans, annexing them for Hungary whilst Hungary will launch a major blitz assault upward into Commonwealth territory, ceasing turf for the Empire. We essentially swap wars, this move preserves the defensive-pact policies and keeps a façade of peace between the Empire and Commonwealth whilst also waging a proxy war against it.

I have given Hungary great support in its conquest, it is time it executes an imperial plan.

If this does not work than that will be the end of diplomacy here and we will simply wage a war of attrition on our respective fronts.

@Triangle Mare

Alright, Amsterdam will be given semi-autonomous rights so that the trade guild can work to an efficient standard. You must however understand that the city will remain bound to the will of the Emperor and his marshals.

I respect that you are an independent entity and probably do not want to get involved with the affairs of war but I have a couple of requests nonetheless.

Is it possible for a Guild trade hub to be set up in Hungary to help drive their economy?

Will you implement an embargo upon the Jagiellon Commonwealth?

Laika wrote:

The Hungarians are hesitant to dive straight into a war with the Commonwealth, as it would be a two front war for them and, by their estimates, the Commonwealth is powerful enough to fend off Hungarian arms. However, they are willing to go along with the plan if the Emperor is confident that they will be victorious.

@the last turn

It has come to my attention that the alliance formed between Opus and Lithuania never made it into the turn. However, it is still active, and I will fix this for the next turn.

Jagiellon-Opus Alliance (Commonwealth, Opus)

@Laika
Trade embargo on one of our oldest ports that bring a lot of profits is unreasonable.
However, seeing the geopolitical relevance of Hungary, an offer is made to them, analogical to the offer made to the Empire, but with Ragusa as the local trading port.

And yes, the city will technically be bound to provide resources for wars and be bound to the will of the Emperor

Just a little update on tech:

You may now only steal a tech if it is owned by multiple players. This is to make it so that some players who specialize in one area can remain ahead in that field because of their hard work and determination. I will keep a list of steal-able techs at the beginning of each turn from now on. Currently the following techs may be stolen:

Gunpowder
Clipper Ships
Steam Power
Printing
Scientific Theory

You may steal as many of these as you wish in one turn and it all only takes up a single action. You do not have to specify who you are stealing from, its kinda just a bank of "common knowledge" that you are taking techs out of.

Did I misunderstand this or can one of my actions simply be "steal all common knowledge"?

I'll be submitting my turn in about 2 hours, I was a bit late leaving it this time round. I apologize if I am causing a hold up.

Also what will be happening with Italy now that Some Guy has left?

@Triangle Mare

The Empire thanks you for extending your trade routes to its most noble ally however your unwillingness to embargo will undoubtedly make things awkward in the near future. At any rate we will strive to work around this.

You understand it correctly.

No prob, bob. I won't be writing the turn for at least another eight hours anyway; I'm about to go to bed. Still, thanks for being prompt and time conscious.

Is he leaving, or is he just backing out of the present conflict? The way he phrased that comment made me think that he is still playing.

The World
Common Knowledge Tech: Gunpowder, Clipper Ships, Steam Power, Printing, Scientific Theory, Electricity, Vaccines, Rocketry, Rifling, Steam Aeroplanes
(You may steal these techs)

-A continental war in Europe, sparked by Hungarian expansion in the Balkans, has brought the Jagiellons and Opus to war against the Central Empire and their ally, Hungary. By the war's end the casualties were massive on all sides, and the resulting peace treaty gave gains to both sides. Altogether, the war is being viewed by the public as a stalemate with no single winner.

-War breaks out in Hanunah as the succession of the Huastec monarchy nearly left the Aztec Emperor on the throne. Opposing the move, Chichimeca invaded Huastec to seize the throne for themselves. Fearing the combination of those two states into one, Caddo and Choctaw allied and declared war. Soon the conflict expanded to encompass the Comanche, Hopi, Apache, and Shoshone nations and the Aztec Emperor, realizing that neither side of the war supported his claim, backed out of the conflict. The resulting war was devastating, leaving an entire generation dead and resulting in very few meaningful territorial exchanges.

-Continued warfare in Hanunah has resulted in massive Pacifist demonstrations across the western half of the continent. A revolution in Shoshone has resulted in the creation of a new branch of the Pacifists, calling themselves Breakers. Breakerism advocates violence, rather than strict Pacifism, but on a much smaller scale than open warfare, and still calls for the abolition of armies. The Shoshone revolution was crushed by the government, but the Breakers did manage the assassination of several nobles, leaving national unity severely weakened.

-The Narthurian Vanguard declares independence from Al-Andalus. In response, the Sultan has obliterated their former castle in Iberia and maintained a constant blockade of their ports.

-As a result of the collapse of the Persian state to foreign invaders and rebels, the Kurds have taken over the Iraqi region and declared the establishment of their own state.

Alaska
The Alaskan Synod (Taryn)
Tech: Gunpowder, Rocketry, Rocket Planes (70%), Liquid Fuel (70%), Electricity (60%), Blast Pinwheel Engine (30%)

-Utilizing their knowledge of rocketry, Alaskan innovators have come up with a way of automating their foundries and manufactories. By attaching rockets to a pinwheel they have created an engine through which machines can be powered. Refined versions of this engine have become more stable and less dangerous, reliably powering Alaska's drive towards industrialization.

-A satellite is put into orbit by way of a liquid fuel rocket from a launch pad on the northern tip of Australia. This success has marked a high point of global Alaskan prestige. The satellite, strung with light bulbs, orbits the planet while flashing the following taunt in Morse code: "ALASKA OWNS SPACE."

-A new division of the army, known as Paratroopers, has been organized. Single-use troop transports have flown out to Pindorama and Africa to establish an Alaskan military presence. Their lack of frequent contact with the motherland means that these bases are almost entirely autonomous, operating on their own initiative.

-The Pindorama outpost has encountered a huge number of disorganized tribes, all mutually agreeing in their hatred of Hueynation settlers. They are unable to do much for themselves against the foreign threat, and are migrating in droves to the southern edge of the rainforest. The natives mostly leave the Alaskan colony fort alone, although a few do come by begging for support in their war.

-Luddites have sabotaged some of the factories operating on the new pinwheels. They are motivated to preserve the old cottage industries that they have operated out of for hundreds of years. Conservatives siding with the Luddites argue that the nation is advancing too quickly, while Liberals are proposing legislation that would severely punish industrial sabotage.

Hueynation
Emmerich Dynasty (Sergeant Arch Dornan)
Tech: Clipper Ships, Gunpowder, Combat Armor (40%), Steam Power (40%), Maxi Bun Perfect Burger (20%), Vaccines (50%), Scientific Theory (60%)

-Ah, the Maxi Bun. Hueynation's finest food. Everybody from prince to pauper eats it and now, with the nation's top scientists inspired by its glorious flavor, a project has emerged to create the world's first "super food." The newly created Maxi Bun Perfect Burger has proven to contain all of the required calories and nutrients in proper proportions that a healthy human needs to survive, but is also delicious, unlike most foods that are "good for you."

-Maxi Bun exports have gradually risen as the nation is gripped with dependency on the super-food. Many people the world over have developed a taste for the burger.

-The new vaccines are making life in Angola tolerable through the reduction of Malarial outbreaks. The colony is able to expand deeper into the continent.

-The Pindorama colony is expanded upon, with settlers being directed to move southward along the coast. Soon the Yuzco colony is encountered, and the governors of both colonies draw up an acceptable border line between their territories.

-An anti-vaxxer association has spread propaganda against the usage of vaccines, claiming that they cause mental illness. Some of the more religiously extreme even claim that it is against the wishes of the gods to steal away the souls of those dying from disease, saying that vaccines will indirectly cause the death of the sun due to a lack of "disease sacrifices."

The Roses
Rose Dynasty (Tchefuncte Bonaparte)
Tech: Dirigibles, Gunpowder, Electricity (70%), Printing (80%), Radio (30%), Airships (60%), Clipper Ships (30%), Steam Power (10%), Printing (30%), Scientific Theory (30%), Vaccines (30%), Rocketry (20%), Rifling (40%), Steam Aeroplanes (20%)

-Public funding is thrown at Pacific expansion, and many islands are claimed across the ocean. Settlers move out to build new towns across Australia and Micronesia.

-An air fleet of dirigibles proves too flimsy to be practically used in any sort of battle, so newly developed airships with hardy construction are put into development. Some have started to compare the Rose Air Fleet with the Alaskan Jet Force, giving the idea of a race to militarize the skies.

-An academy is opened for the training of new officers in both the ground military and air fleet. As there have been no major military engagements involving sky-based warfare tehre is little to teach; the officers are pining for a war to test their new capabilities.

-The monarchy has declared the beginning of a massive westernization program, bringing in foreign specialists to implement western technology across the nation and modernize the infrastructure. The public reaction can be described as nothing short of rebellious; anywhere that the program can be opposed it has been, and as a result technological development is severely stifled. Several independent anti-foreign associations have organized and the racial slur "foreign devil" is on every other person's tongue.

Yuzco
High U-Love Party (Twisty)
Tech: Printing, Steam Power (60%), Steam Aeroplanes, Vaccines (40%), Digitization (40%) Gunpowder (20%), Clipper Ships (20%), Scientific Theory (30%), Electricity (20%), Rocketry (30%), Rifling (30%)

-A military division is sent into the cold expanses of the north to claim territory in Cree lands. The natives are extremely hostile, and rapidly form a confederation to fight foreign expansion. Beothuk, already working on their own project of very slow integration in the north, has sent a communique: "Good job you ruined it for everyone."

-A colony is established in Nigeria. The new vaccines make it possible to tolerably live there, allowing settlers to thrive, albeit at the mercy of the pharmaceuticals industry.

-Digitization has been used to create imaging software, making everything from cataloging to taking pictures as easy as clicking a button. One of the first big fads has been the creation of an image-printing industry revolving around comics, one of which has become something of a memetic joke. The press is at a loss to explain it.

-The Guarani have been integrated into the Pindorama Colony.

-A modernization initiative has been adopted by the party. Foreign technology from around the world has been imported alongside specialists in the associated fields to manage the advancement. This movement has proved to be wildly unpopular, and people across the country are fighting back against the widespread changes to their lifestyle and culture brought about by technological change.

-Due to the growing Luddite movement, the L.I.H. party has been gaining support among the people, having adopted an anti-modernization stance. They are threatening to overtake the traditional power over the H.U.L. party through a general election.

Central Empire
House of Leopold (Laika)
Tech: Steam Power, Gunpowder (90%), Rifling (10%), Cryptoneurology (40%), Telepathy (30%),

-WAR! An invasion of the Balkans has brought the Empire and Hungary into conflict with the Commonwealth and their ally, Opus. Trenches are dug on the Empire's eastern border, which is made static to pin down Jagiellon forces while the Hungarians invade from the south. Meanwhile, the Central Empire fought a protracted campaign in the Balkans, primarily against Opus and Greek armies. After several years of draining combat, the war ends in a near stalemate. Concessions are required on both sides to prevent the conflict from being all for naught.

-The peace treaty of the war with Commonwealth has reorganized the Balkans into a Greek state with a Hungarian prince on the throne, a natural ally of Hungary, and a Bulgaria split between Hungary and Opus. In exchange for this, the Commonwealth has been allowed to partition Muscowy with Denmark and Opus. The Hungarians were the primary drafters of the treaty due to Imperial deference, but a few minor territorial exchanges between the Empire and the Commonwealth were also made.

-The Emperor personally speaks out in favor of the Pacifist cause, although it soon becomes evident that he never picked up the Manifesto itself. He says that peace is the ultimate goal of the Empire, and this goal must be fought for to be obtained. The Pacifists respond with inflammatory publications decrying the Emperor for his aggressiveness, once more calling for the abolition of war.

-The discourse between the Emperor and the Pacifists without much censorship has given rise to much political debate. Some are calling for the creation of a parliament, and new ideologies is flourishing. One such new ideology, Communism, has become particularly popular as an idea among the working classes. Due to the lack of a printing industry, most of these new publications are being created in neighboring countries, leading the people to associate these ideologies with foreign powers.

-Gallic nationalism is on the rise. Gaul patriot regiments fought gallantly in the war, their leaders claiming that good conduct and bravery can prove to the world that their people are deserving of independence. Grassroots nationalist organizations are gathering a following, although memory of the nobility purging war has led to much caution in open displays of independence sentiment.

-Newly developed sciences have allowed for telepathic links to be established between human individuals. Cryptoneurology, the study of the brain's "secret" abilities, has led to this development. Using this technology, the state has taken a completely unknown man from a mental hospital and turned him into a celebrity god: Haglaz. The man is masqueraded around the country as the risen form of the ancient king and, using his telepathic capabilities, has convinced many of his credibility. The direct result of this attempt is widespread conversion to the Cult of Haglaz. Although the religion is still a minority, it is growing at a significantly improved rate.

Opus
Bravdaz Family (TillsterRulz)
Tech: Printing, Steam Power, Gunpowder (90%), Scientific Theory (80%), Clipper Ships (90%), Rocketry (40%)

-Following the treaty ending the Commonwealth war with the Central Empire, Opus was granted swaths of territory in the partition of Muscowy and Bulgaria as thanks for their alliance.

-Soldiers are sent to crush Mamluk autonomy and integrate their territory into the larger nation. The expedition is a success, and after being forced to retreat in two minor skirmishes the Mamluk commanders surrender their forces.

-Factories are regulated in such a way to defend the workers and the production lines from Luddite aggression. Furthermore, the Luddites are appeased with a mandate creating hybrid industries. Industrialists are enraged at these new regulations and lobby against them.

-A major battle with the Eyyiks on the Aral sea has resulted from the annexation of Mamluk territory. The people are fearful of what threat China poses, and Eyyik incursions in Russia have doubled this fear.

-To defend their interests in the face of Mongol expansion, the merchants of the south Caspian short have launched a coup, taking the coastline and a significant part of Iran from Persia.

Cheswick
The Council of Cheswick (Crimeariver)
Tech: Gunpowder, Steam Power, Scientific Theory, Vaccines, Rifling (60%), Clipper Ships (30%), Printing (50%)

-The "Heart of Darkness" is finally conquered. The African fort sends a successful expedition deep into the continent, claiming much of west Africa. No longer challenged by malaria and equipped with state-of-the-art modern equipment, the soldiers are wildly successful in their conquest.

-Following in the footsteps of the African conquest, a similar expedition is dispatched to India. Encounters with the local Dravidian Hindus has been much more violent than the war in Africa was, resulting in a somewhat less successful land grab.

-A treaty is signed with the Sons of Liberty allowing their extrication to Africa. Their initial base in the Western Sahara is removed, and they are forced to flee to Cameroon. Thanks to new legislation allowing easy emigration for the Sons, many people unaffiliated with the terrorists are claiming to be former members, giving them a free ticket to the Africa colony. The Irish, viewing themselves as severely oppressed, by and large see this free new land as far more inviting than continued life in Ireland, and are taking up the migration in droves.

The Central Guild (Triangle Mare)
Tech: Steam Power, Scientific Theory (50%), Gunpowder, Chemistry (70%), Metallurgy (90%), Electricity (40%)

-The Guild declares itself a thalassocracy, taking command of the cities that they have headquarters in through city council elections. Once legally in power, their representatives have forced most of these cities to be declared "free ports" which essentially means that they are now under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Guild.

-Bases are established in South Asia, Pindorama, and Africa. Due to the larger share of guild power demanded by the free port system, these bases are harder to establish, but are more profitable in the end.

-The Nicaragua HQ is requesting funds to build a Canal through Miskito. The South Pindorama HQ is opposing this plan as it would divert trade away from Cape Horn.

-The South Incan HQ is requesting a military attachment to support a coup in favor of the Guild.

-The Guild has begun funding the expansion of the India colony internally, giving settlers an easier way to get there and gain land for their families. Production is supported as the guild helps the construction of warehouses and manufacturies. Of course, none of these lands or buildings are free, and the Guild makes a tidy sum from rents in India.

-Michael Faraday has discovered "the electricity" at Cardigan's Academy of Sciences.

-Focus is shifted from financial support of cottage industries in the country to direct ownership of much larger factories in the cities. This move has centralized the Guild's power base, allowing cheaper administration and larger shares of the profit while simultaneously industrializing the cities that the Guild controls.

-The Zanzibar HQ has requested that the Guild mediate the Andalucian-Narthurian conflict to end the blockade of their port.

New Ireland
Sons of Liberty (Snickerway)
Tech: Steam Power, Gunpowder, Ironclads (50%)

-Following a treaty with the Council of Cheswick, the Sons of Liberty end their terrorist acts and agree to remove themselves from Ireland. They flee to the Western Sahara, establishing a fort there, but are quickly removed by Cheswick colonial authorities, who were instructed not to allow the Sons to establish a base near Cheswick territory. Boarding their steam ships once more, the Sons of Liberty continue moving south, finding a home in Cameroon at the base of Mount Oku.

-Mount Oku is heavily fortified. All of the organization's military equipment, so graciously allowed to be taken with them out of Ireland, is concentrated on the mountain fort-town to create a citadel the likes of which cannot be found anywhere else in Africa.

-The natural resources of Cameroon combined with its almost non-existent native population has led to a massive boom of Irish settlement. Although occasionally plagued by malaria, the colonists are finding little difficulty in expanding their settlement; the losses to disease are more than made up for by the huge quantity of immigrants from Ireland.

Eyyik
The Eyyik Tribes (You Are Reading This)
Tech: Gunpowder (80%), Steam Power (70%), Printing (40%)

-The Great Khan, having witnessed the capability of the steam engine, has altered course, fully supporting the industrialization of China.

-Three hordes are sent out: one to conquer Russia, another the Mamluks, and a third the Persians. Each finds its own success, although their momentum is tempered by the obstruction that Opus has delivered in each situation. Their annexation of parts of Muscowy, Mamluks, and Persia has obfuscated the conquest; the Khans are demanding a war with the Opus state.

-Another invasion is launched towards India and Indochina, with Temür at the helm. Unfortunately, these attempts find much smaller success than even the western expansion. Rough terrain has obstructed the typical Mongol strategies, making it difficult to find and destroy opposition. The war does little more than reestablish the Chinese authority in the southwest, although the Tibetans now recognize China as their liege and are paying tribute.

-Suomenusko, the native faith of the Eyyiks, is imposed upon Mongolia, although the rest of the empire is allowed to remain religiously free. Eyyik administrators are converting to the faith for favors from their superiors.

Ionia
The City of Ionia (CrowTheMagician)
Tech: Printing, Gunpowder (70%), Steam Engine (50%), Steam Aeroplanes (60%), Elecriticy (10%), Scientific Theory (30%)

-A somewhat secret order, the Ninjas, is established out of various secret societies by the same name in China. Attracting the Ninjas with high pay and an organized structure of leadership, Ionia now commands a formidable force of secret servicemen.

-Diplomats schmooze with the Japanese Emperor, gradually raising friendly relations with him. The Emperor, recognizing Ionia's vast wealth and development, has proposed the integration of Ionia into the greater Japanese Empire. In return, Ionia will be allowed to publish whatever they want and will be given jurisdiction over the whole of Hokkaido.

-Another team of diplomats is sent out to establish relations with Korea, Rose, Manchu, Funan, and the Alaskan colonies. This has raised popular awareness of Ionia and has drawn trade and immigration.

-The scholars are still frustrated that their city-state is falling so far behind in the world. To make up for this, a group of them have formed The Society for Ionian Supremacy, also known in short as The Supremes. Their stated goal is to bring Ionia not only up to par with other countries but to surpass them in technological development.

-The Supremes have brought electricity and the scientific theory to the city. This foreign invention and foreign idea have improved infrastructure and amplified the city-state's curriculum, respectively.

Welcome to the Co-Prosperity Sphere brother. Also Sargent you double posted.

Two things: The Council and Central Guild have signed a technology-sharing pact. Just pointing it out since it was not included in the turn, or the previous ones.
Additionally, the bases in Amsterdam and Ragusa aren't on the map.

Oh, and I repeat my offer of being added and benefiting from global trade market (and designating a trade port for the local HQ) to:
Hueynaton, The Roses (Possibly also a scientific pact) and Yuzco.
The offer is also made to Japan.

And what does the world say about us?

I keep forgetting to respond to this, sorry. Since you are a faction within Cheswick, you do automatically get all of the techs of Cheswick. Consider the Council of Cheswick's tech list as an addition to your tech list. However, for Cheswick to adopt the technologies exclusive to Guild Cities, Crimeariver would need to make the decision to adopt those techs. I will not be giving Crimeariver any techs that are not specifically requested in a PM.

Triangle Mare wrote:

The thread is just for diplomacy; nothing practical besides the establishment of alliances can translate from the thread into the turn. For you to establish bases in those locations, you need to say so in your PM.

Triangle Mare wrote:

Japan accepts under the condition that trade may only occur through the port city of Nagasaki, where it can be most easily regulated.

Somehow I missed that the Central Guild invented trains this turn. I cannot edit the turn, so just pretend that you have this: Steam Train (20%)

Oh wait, can I just get any techs the Central Guild has without using an action? Because if that's the case then I'll willingly accept any technologies they have.

You Are Reading This wrote:

Well I can't speak for everyone, but it's making me just a tad nervous.

Crimeariver wrote:

You will have to put it in your PM for it to happen.

Triangle Mare wrote:

Most of the world appreciates the guild's presence. For some countries, where the administration is significantly more centralized, the free city system is undermining their authority and sapping tax revenue. However, altogether the guild helps develop the cities that it is present in, which is nothing but good for a well developed, modern nation.

You Are Reading This wrote:

The Guild is concerned about how the Mongol Expansion will impact on the market, and about the well-being of Suez Canal and India. It has no stance on religious decisions in the horde.

@Syndic
Ah, I didn't know that. Very well then, I will be sure to include the base-making in my PM.
The Guild is happy with Japan's agreement.

Can I adress some of the HQ offers from the diplomacy side?
@South Incan HQ: What would be the possible benefits of the coup? What would you do with the government, and why do you think that it's needed?
@South Pindorama HQ: The Canal is something that would be most certainly beneficiary to the Guild as a whole – Would a compensation in form of huge funds to develop local industry, thus being able to benefit from production more than being a trade stop do?
@Zanzibar HQ: The blockade is outrageous. We will try to adress the issue immidiately.

@Vanguard, Al-Andalus

The Guild's current Archmaster has called representatives of both nations to Cardigan hoping to mediate the current conflict and end the blockade.

((While my responses to HQ's are mostly questions, I can conduct diplomacy and mediation outside of my turn, right?))

Triangle Mare wrote:

Yes, but anything that has practical aplication ingame must be done through PM. For instance, you cannot build the Nicaragua canal from the thread, but you can explain to South Pindorama why you are doing it.

Triangle Mare wrote:

@South Incan HQ: What would be the possible benefits of the coup? What would you do with the government, and why do you think that it’s needed?

They would establish a pro-Cheswick government in Peru, setting up a protectorate leading to annexation. The Guild would exert unprecedented power over Peru, bringing huge profits and a vast labor force under your direct control.

Triangle Mare wrote:

Local industry is almost non-existent at their port; serving as a trade warehouse at the midway point between the Atlantic and Pacific ports is the very reason for this outpost's existence. With a canal comes the extinction of the base.

Triangle Mare wrote:

They thank you for your concern and quick action.

Triangle Mare wrote:

During the conference it becomes apparent that the hostilities are entirely one-sided. The Sultan's representative is unwilling to drop the matter unless the Narthurian Vanguard agrees to rejoin the Sultanate while the Narthurian representative barely even cares that there is a state of war and is willing to accept a white peace at any time. There exists a stalemate: Narthuria has no fleet and cannot invade Iberia while the Andalucians do not have enough manpower to launch a land invasion in Africa. For the Narthurians, who thrive on a frontier lifestyle involving conquest, farming, and local production, the blockade has not really impacted them, so they are willing to stay in for the long haul and wait it out.

You may conduct any kind of business that only involves talking to other nations through the thread. You can also conduct such diplomacy in your PM, if you want to, but that would waste actions that could be better used on other things.

@Syndic
And what does the world say about us?

I bet you want to steal the recipe for our awesome burgers but I'll think about it.

((meant to post last night but the post got eaten and I was too lazy to rewrite it))

@Crimea

I'd assumed that would be the case by default. We are still in a state of cold war, after all.

2. The new nation or organization established by the Sons of Liberty will not be allowed to share a border with Current Cheswick territory.

Acceptance attempted? I tried placing my colony with a reasonable buffer zone between our countries, but it looks like you expanded into the area I attempted to settle in on the same turn I got there, so I got thrown elsewhere.

Oh well, not a problem now.

3. Any members of the Sons of Liberty who do not leave the country of their own volition will be removed by force and sent to the territory or organization established by the Sons of Liberty

Saves me the trouble of retrieving them myself.

@Laika & Triangle

New Ireland hopes peaceful relations can be resumed as of the treaty signing. We bear no hostility toward your nations, and any offensive actions against you were only part of the battle against Cheswick.

@Syndic

Is technology theft considered an aggressive action? If I steal from an NPC nation, will they declare war or something?

And, if it is, are there other options to obtain the tech? Could I trade for the tech I need, for instance?

i want to see a communicate to beothuk

"fuck off"

i also want to send an embassy construction deal with all major countries and allies who are willing to accept, my country is also gonna establish international trade companies who can globalize our market into other territories, i want them to be established not only on our colonies but also on countries far away such as roses, japan, opus, Al-Andalus, ayyubids and narthuria hoping they can see the profit in this.

i won't accept the HQ offer from central guild for now

No, it is not an aggressive action. I only used the word "steal" because it implies that you do not need permission or help to do it. It isn't a criminal act, you are just copying them.

Beothuk responds: "calm down m8"

Japan is unwilling to allow more than one foreign nation to trade with it and declines. Al-Andalus, and the Ayyubid, having positive experiences with the Central Guild, agree that your companies can operate in their borders. Narthuria responds that you will need a lot of luck getting anything in or out through the Andalucian blockade, but welcomes you to try.

(Very tired, churning out a low quality post nonethless)

An all round good..ish turn.
Literally brainwashed someone with magic into thinking they are an ancient saint too.

@Syndic,

The Gallic nationalist are welcomed by the Empire, their goals are aligned with the Emperor after all.

@Snickerway

The Emperor holds no hostility against the Sons of Liberty

@Triangle Mare

After many years of war with the Commonwealth thousands of Imperial lives have been lost, your continued trade with the enemy can no longer be overlooked. The Emperor demands an embargo, every action must be taken to tip the balance.

@Laika
The Guild is an international company that is affliated with Cheswick, and embargo would significantly cut our profits and create void on the grain market. Thus, unless the Cheswicks also declare an embargo, the Guild is not willing to cut trade with the Commonwealth – However, import and export to Amsterdam port can be halted for the length of the war.

@You Are Reading This
The Guild wishes to set up a Headquarters in a trade port of the Horde, prefferably in China.

@Taryn
Alaska recieves an offer of connecting to the Guild's trade hub through one of their ports.

@Al-Andalus
The Guild points out the futility of the blockade, and makes an offer of lifting it for our port so that it doesn't come to any forceful solutions. As a compensation, it is willing to temporarily lower the price margin on the goods sold in the Iberia. The Guild still wishes to mediate peace between the two factions.

Al-Andalus agrees to these terms, although their representative seems rather upset about it. He had been hoping that the Guild would side with Al-Andalus on this one. Guild speculators are ecstatic, however, as this means that Zanzibar is the only port through which trade can now occur for almost half of Africa. This is sure to be a huge boon for the Guild

due to the recent events in north america, Yuzco instates a meeting by the leaders of the warring countries in order to find an agreement of peace and try to stop the bloodshed of more people, so as to the culture of all societies is not lost by the massive deaths in the war.

also send some supplies and emergency teams in order to aid civilians from allies.

Japan may not be willing to trade with another foreign nation but Ionia is.

i'd be happy to be able to establish ports so that our countries prosper, also embassies if thats ok.

Jagiellon Hegemony (Commonwealth, Austria)

Team Alaska (Alaska, Alaska Al-Sahra, Magemopa)

The World
Common Knowledge Tech: Gunpowder, Clipper Ships, Steam Power, Printing, Scientific Theory, Electricity, Vaccines, Rocketry, Rifling, Steam Aeroplanes, Robotics, Combustion,
(You may steal these techs)

-The Sultan of Rum, encouraged by the weakness of the new Kurdish state, has invaded and conquered the entire country. To continue his conquering momentum he has also taken Trabzon. As a result of his warmongering, a coalition has formed against Rum.

-Taking advantage of the war-ravaged continent, the Aztecs have forged north. conquering most of the former empire and forming vassal states out of Chichimeca, Choctaw, Hopi, and Miskito. As a result of their unbridled conquest, a massive coalition of all their neighbors has formed and threatens to dismantle the entire new empire.

-A second war between the Central Empire and the Jagiellons commences, almost as soon as the first had ended. Hungary quickly collapses to internal rebellion, leaving the Empire alone against the Commonwealth and Opus. As a result, they were pushed back and defeated, but not at great cost to the Commonwealth. Communist rebels have gripped the country, Belarus has declared independence, and a drafted army of Russians has returned home to proclaim the republic of Novgorod free once more.

Alaska
The Alaskan Synod (Taryn)
Tech: Gunpowder, Rocketry, Rocket Planes (90%), Liquid Fuel, Electricity (80%), Blast Pinwheel Engine (90%), Lasercoms (20%), Railguns (40%)

-High intensity lasers are fixed to newly launched satellites. By firing them at ground bases, messages can be transferred to the surface. Similar lasers on the ground fire back, delivering a response. Through Morse code, this messaging system bridges the information gap between continents, tying the entire Alaskan nation closer together.

-Some of the first railguns in development after the prototype stage are put into orbit. A network of three such satellites has given Alaska the ability to commit a small-scale, temporary shelling of any location on the globe with moderate accuracy.

-The Africa and Pindorama bases, using their superior weapons and military organization structure, have each gone on a conquering spree among the natives of each region. In Pindorama, the so-called Airmen Junta has merged several tribes together into a confederation called Magemopa on the fringes of the great jungle. In Africa, the other paratrooper corps has taken on the name "The Airbornes" and established a similar regime in the desert.

-A colony is established in Somalia.

-The Synod has argued the liberal case, claiming that the nation's growing industry is only good in the long run, creating happiness and economic progress. To make the push for full industrialization, they have put some funding towards the expansion of businesses using engines. The Luddites have mostly ceased their operations in the face of the now insurmountable challenge of deconstructing the government's ties with the industrialists.

Hueynation
Emmerich Dynasty (Sergeant Arch Dornan)
Tech: Clipper Ships, Gunpowder, Combat Armor (60%), Steam Power (60%), Maxi Bun Perfect Burger (80%), Vaccines (70%), Scientific Theory, Clipper Ships (60%), Printing (50%), Electricity (20%), Rocketry (30%), Rifling (20%), Steam Aeroplanes (50%), Robotics (20%)

-A modernization program is adopted. The immediate impact upon the country has been a wave of chaos and uprising. Luddite organizations have emerged across the country, working to actively sabotage the program. A lack of specialists in the country has resulted in foreigners moving to Hueynation to spearhead the program. This, combined with widespread ignorance has led to suspicion of the new technology and the foreigners. Xenophobia is rampant.

-An ocean platform is constructed in the Carribean, to the south of Hueynation. Tairona has expressed concern, worrying that it is a military base that could project Hueynation power toward their shores. As of yet there is no obvious purpose for this platform, which has been called "Mother Base" by its constructors.

-The Pindorama natives are informed that they must assimilate to Hueynation culture or be destroyed. Realizing that the foreigners purposefully mean them harm, the remaining tribes band together into several new nations and, forming a military of their own, now have borders capable of defending themselves.

-All anti-vaxxers are jailed. The Luddite organizations have petitioned for their release but were denied, leading to riots. One such riot in Haiti evolved into a battle between local police and the mob, which tore down the walls of a prison to release their comrades. The uprising was quickly crushed, but has led to some fears that the modernization program may lead to even greater violence.

-The one technology readily adopted by the people has been printing; large broadsheets and a great many pamphlets are being printed by Luddites to spread their ideology of xenophobia and technological ignorance.

Monarchy of the Roses
Rose Dynasty (Tchefuncte Bonaparte)
Tech: Dirigibles, Gunpowder, Electricity (80%), Printing, Radio (50%), Airships, Clipper Ships (50%), Steam Power (20%), Printing (90%), Scientific Theory (80%), Vaccines (50%), Rocketry (80%), Rifling (60%), Steam Aeroplanes (40%)

-The Rosen faith is codified into a book, which is printed en masse. Some conservative clergy see this as a step towards state domination of religious creed, and fear that their power might be diminished. Indeed, the new books have reduced their ability to make up the laws of the gods on a whim, and have given the king greater control over the hearts and minds of the people.

-The Luddites are encouraged to regard the new technologies as integral to the nation's culture through their use in celebrations and proselytizing. Radio and print spread the good word while fireworks are being used to celebrate holy days. Steam powered factories are churning out lucky charms and idols while vaccinations have been spun in a positive light as "tears of the god of good health."

-The attempt at integration has pacified some, but enraged others, essentially driving members of the Luddite revolution towards their individual extremes. In the extremely conservative back country of Borneo an army of ignorant peasants has risen up and marched to the sea, tearing down electrical lines and torching modern factories that they found in their path.

Yuzco
High U-Love Party (Twisty)
Tech: Printing, Steam Power (80%), Steam Aeroplanes, Vaccines (70%), Digitization (70%) Gunpowder (80%), Clipper Ships (40%), Scientific Theory (60%), Electricity (40%), Rocketry (90%), Rifling (90%), Combustion (50%)

-The government exerts every effort to convince the people of the positive sides to modernization. Education is funded to reduce ignorance and a mass propaganda campaign has spread awareness. Furthermore, certain regions in the country have been designated as "backwater areas," where most modern technology and foreign specialists can be outright banned if the locals demand it. This measure has found extreme success, allowing the people to decide just how rapidly they would like to embrace globalization. This has, of course, severely slowed nation-wide integration of technology.

-The oil fields of the country – or rather, the fields beneath pro-tech districts – are being rapidly exploited to their fullest extent to fuel the burgeoning oil industry. Automobiles, powered by oil engines, are rolling out onto the streets of major cities, redefining the way people get from home to work, allowing more flexible work schedules.

-With the successful backwater area designations, the L.I.H. voting bloc has dissolved, once again putting them at a diminished influence in government.

Central Empire
House of Leopold (Laika)
Tech: Steam Power, Gunpowder, Rifling (70%), Cryptoneurology, Telepathy (70%), Electricity (50%), Tesla Weaponry (40%)

-War is declared upon the Commonwealth again, almost immediately following the conclusion of the previous peace. Hungary is only barely enticed into the war; their manpower pool, entirely depleted from the previous war, had no time to recover. As a result, they were forced to pull several police battalions from the Balkans and Anatolia to fight on the front lines, resulting in successful rebellions there.

-Initially the war is devastatingly one-sided. Not expecting an a new war so quickly after the previous one had been absolved, the Jagiellons were caught off guard. Imperial agents known as Psykers had also used telepathic incursions to convince the administration not to prepare a mobilization, setting them back even further. However, after advancing deep into Poland and moving to the border of Lithuania, Imperial luck ran out; Hungary was forced to pull back their forces to deal with a major insurrection in Bulgaria while Opus reinforcements and an army of Russian draftees advanced along the Baltic coastline. Gradually the tide was turned; Hungary collapsed, breaking into several smaller states, and was forced to sign a separate peace. Soon the easterners were deep in Germany. Desperate urban battles were pitched and cities were laid to ruin.

-The Empire was forced to sign an unfavorable peace, demilitarizing the eastern border and ceding territory to the Jagiellons and their new puppet state of Austria.

-Gallic Nationalists are encouraged to attract the attention of the lower classes. They are thus obliged by the emperor to crush the concept of communism and pacifism, replacing it with their own ultra-nationalist ideology. With this goal in mind and the public's extreme dissatisfaction with the present regime, a new ideology is born to which the masses flock: Fascism. The fascists have rapidly grown in power in the post-war period, eventually speaking in rhetoric aimed towards violent revolution and an overthrow of the ruling dynasty. Naturally this was not the emperor's will, and so Imperial Psykers were sent in to break apart the fascist rebellion. Having psykers of their own the fascists successfully defended themselves and fought back, attempting a coup by storming the imperial palace with an armed flash mob. The attempt failed, but has put tensions very high, and the threat of a second secession crisis looms.

Cheswick
The Council of Cheswick (Crimeariver)
Tech: Gunpowder, Steam Power, Scientific Theory, Vaccines, Rifling, Clipper Ships (50%), Printing (70%), Electricity (60%), Rocketry (40%), Steam Aeroplanes (20%), Combustion (20%), Radio (30%), Radar (60%)

-The Africa colony continues expanding rapidly inland, across the Sahel and up to the desert. Resource extraction and settlement has brought mutual wealth to the motherland and the colony.

-Rather than continue to conquer their country, the Council has decided instead to deal with them peacefully. Several parcels of land are purchased from the Dravidians and, through bribery and coercion, the locals are convinced to either abandon their homes or integrate themselves into the Cheswick colony.

The Central Guild (Triangle Mare)
Tech: Steam Power, Scientific Theory, Gunpowder, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Electricity (70%), Steam Train (70%), Computer (30%), Radio (40%), Radar (20%)

-New guild bases are established in Nagasaki, Amsterdam, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Sinop, Hedjaz, and Hawaii, the last of which is also colonized by Cheswick settlers. The attempt to establish a base in Ragusa falls through as the Hungarian state crumbles, making all offers and arrangements null and void. The Croatians have been rather unresponsive, as their new state formalizes itself they have had more important things to take care of rather than trade.

-Nicaragua's canal plan is funded, irritating the Cape Horn base. However, the trade hub did not collapse as predicted, as it still governs an important seaway. They have lost out considerable to trade which has been redirected through the new canal. To guarantee access the land surrounding the canal and the south side of Lake Nicaragua have been leased from the Miskito government.

-A young aristocrat, Pizarro, leads a small military expedition to Inca. The Sapa Inca is overthrown and his bodyguard troop massacred, putting an end to the Incan state. Neighboring Chimor has taken advantage of the coup by seizing the northern portion of the country, but for the most part Inca is now a Cheswick protectorate.

-The blockade of Zanzibar is ended, giving the guild full access to Narthurian trade. Zanzibar rapidly grows into the world's largest trading center, the island entirely covered in warehouses, train stations, docks, and warehouses.

-A statistical branch of the guild estimates that the Central Guild now owns over half of the world's ship tonnage. Revel in the glory!

New Ireland
Sons of Liberty (Snickerway)
Tech: Steam Power, Gunpowder, Ironclads, Geothermal Energy (60%), Heat Resistant Materials (40%)

-The Mount Oku fort is renamed New Dublin. The fortifications are further improved with a moat, pillboxes, trenches, and caltrop fields.

-Immigration continues unabated except by malaria, which continues to plague the poor refugees. As they enter the country they spread out across the Sahel, claiming farming and grazing land and building new communities on the edges of the desert.

-Roads are put at the top of the "to do list" for new settlements, creating a network that expands rapidly to the east.

-Black market prices for malaria vaccines are at an all time high. Huge profits are to be made in getting the vaccine, among other drugs, to New Ireland. Even federal-level administrators have their pockets lined with drug money.

-Many people are calling for a republican election and an end to single-party rule by the Sons.

China
Eyyik Dynasty (You Are Reading This)
Tech: Gunpowder, Steam Power, Printing (70%), Clipper Ships (20%), Scientific Theory (20%), Electricity (60%), Vaccines (50%), Rocketry (60%), Rifling (20%), Steam Aeroplanes (60%)

-The Eyyiks have come to associate themselves more and more with the success of obtaining the Mandate of Heaven. They have changed their focus away from tribal conquest and towards dynastic affairs. The administration of China has become central to the former tribe, which is now something more of a traditional Chinese dynasty. As a result of this change the steppe tribes have become somewhat alienated from the administration, although close Eyyik presence in Mongolia has kept them from entertaining thoughts of disloyalty.

-Temür, changing tactics, abandoned horseback combat and fields a massive army of Chinese conscripts to invade Indochina. Most of Vietnam is conquered by the end of his bloody campaign, but the Vietnamese resistance was fierce, taking many lives and a long amount of time to crush.

-The Khan decides in favor of modernization, bringing in foreign dignitaries to teach his people the technological workings of the rest of the world. Unfortunately, the people are somewhat less enthusiastic about this change, and many are passively resisting the new world their khan is trying to bring China into. Universities are forced to open classes for 'globalized education' teaching how to use the new technologies. This somewhat lowers national ignorance, but does not quell the unrest entirely.

-A missionary by the name of Sarangerel has done excellent work spreading the faith of the state throughout the empire. Employing gentle tactics of persuasion and a charismatic voice, he has turned many towards the true faith in Mongolia and northern China.

-The horde finds in-roads through the Himilayas, mapping out mountain passes and forging a road into India through the Afghan countryside. With a route conquered, the horse lords pour into the subcontinent, conquering much of the north with ease.

Ionia
The City of Ionia (CrowTheMagician)
Tech: Printing, Gunpowder, Steam Engine, Steam Aeroplanes (90%), Electricity (40%), Scientific Theory (70%), Robotics (50%), Vaccines (20%), Rifling (20%), Rocketry (50%)

-The Supremes have brought rifles and rocket weapons into the city along with the knowledge of how these technologies work. The denizens of Ionia are becoming frightened of the increasingly militaristic nature of the Supremes.

-The Emperor assumes that his offer has been accepted and Imperial troops storm the city, taking control of the guard posts and barracks. The Supremes are found to be a dangerous paramilitary organization, guilty of sedition against the emperor. Their leaders are executed and their arms are confiscated.

-The infrastructure of Hokkaido is vastly improved under Ionian leadership. The extra tax revenue isn't hurting the city, either.

-Books are published across Japan, spreading Ionian technology and culture far and wide. The great library is greatly expanded with the wealth of Japanese knowledge now at their disposal.

-The Matriarch, in light of the city's loss of sovereignty, has stepped down as autocrat and has established a republican form of government.
