Mekakucity actors op was pretty damn awesome too. Based Garnidelia.
So Kyoani announced their latest project.
Here's an article that go into specifics.
Thoughts?
Personally I hope it turns out interesting, I can't say I can relate as much, but I played in my high school band for three years and it got to be a great experience for me in the last year with state competitions, the football game, and pep rally. I liked playing the trumpet especially, there was a lot to learn but I was notably pretty good in my band, so they say after I quit, I couldn't keep up with the band since I didn't learn the fundamental notes in time, it was surprising how I made it to advanced levels. But it's too early to tell exactly how the plot is going to develop, it could turn completely different than expected. When Amagi Brilliant Park's PV came out I expected something totally different, but it turned out ok.
Discussed this in irc when it was released. I think it looks good, if the music in the PV is anything to go by, it will have a nice soundtrack. And it's KyoAni, so I'd watch it regardless.
Calling it now, trumpet best girl.
IT'S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN – Winter Anime 2015 – AniChart
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG Arpeggio of Blue steel is getting a movie and one of my favourite mangas is also getting an anime. Oh, a movie made by Gainax, I will have to check that one.
Alright, I'll watch the following:
Plus the OVAs of kokkuri-san, bokura wa minna kawaisou and seitokai yakuindomo. What about you guys?
Oh man, I really want to see the Arpeggio movie. Besides the ones you mentioned, I also have to see Kancolle and Testament of Sister New Devil. I mean, look at those boobs.
I really want to see the Arpeggio movie
And there will be a sequel. Can't wait for that one.
I don't expect too much from kancolle to be honest. Just another average anime.
Neither do I, but I want to see it simply because I really like the designs.
Speaking of Arpeggio, I like it, but the animation bothers me to be honest.
Did I touch a nerve when I said that Kancolle will be average?
Yeah, the animation of arpeggio is weird. The way the characters move makes me uncomfortable, like if they were robots. 3D animation is way too different to 2D animation.
We were both joking you know.
Shows I'm checking out this season (I'll update when I watch more shows, since I'm a mod so I can do that)
Yurikuma Arashi – 8/10 For a DEEP SYMBOLISM show I really enjoyed it, probably helped by all the yuri.
Why must it be Kunihiko Ikuhara? Why not just Morishima Akiko? All this unnecessary plot getting in the way of my romance animu…why, just why?
Also why are you deactivated Twenty-One?
Really pleased with Yuri Kuma Arashi.
That OP is just bliss…
Prior to seeing Mawaru Penguindrum a couple of months ago, which was okay for the most part but I didn't take much of a liking to it, I definitely enjoyed the art and small things that made it noticeable. I didn't catch on the DEEP SYMBOLISM it was portraying all that much till the end, which I don't think I get even now. But it had good art and characters.
And what I liked from that show can definitely applied here, just hope I don't get lost in the DEEP SYMBOLISM once again.
Also Watched Absolute Duo, but it turned out to be pretty average, not exactly a great start.
I think I'll keep watching unless the other shows prove more interesting, theirs around 4 other shows with a similar premise so one has to do outdo the other somehow.
Unless of course I end up watching 19 different shows again, not to mention the second cour of the past season shows…
Yuri Kuma Arashi is like a screwed up version of Attack On Titan. Replacing titans with bear and action with yuri and you will get the result. I actually enjoyed it despite what I said.
Absolute Duo is absolute average. The only thing I could praise is the pacing isn't too slow. Please don't remind a certain anime that starts with a C that is still ongoing.
Okay, so I just watched CHEDCL and it's everything I want Yurikuma to be. Why must life be so cruel?
I KNOW I DEACTIVATED BUT I JUST WANTED TO FINISH THE LIST OKAY
So, new shows since then:
KanColle – Exceeded my expectations, probably because I didn't have any in the first place. It was actually a pretty well made show, very good looking, I could see myself enjoying it if I was into that kind of show. Problem is, I'm not. If moe shows are your thing, this is a good show, but just not for me. 6/10
AssClass – This is one of the few manga I've read, so I always knew I'd enjoy this, and I did. Maybe a little exposition-heavy to start with, but it gets better. I like the art style they went with as well. 7/10
Tokyo Ghoul √A – First of all "√A" is a stupid name, or at least I thought it was. I heard an interesting theory about why it's called that, which I will not share because spoilers. As someone who enjoyed the first season, but wasn't exactly blown away, I really enjoyed this, a lot more than I thought I was. Looks to be really good. 8/10
Death Parade – This is probably my favourite non-sequel show this season. Really heavy and dark, which I like, but I see it getting a bit funnier if the OP is anything to go by.
Maybe it'll go the black comedy route, which would take it way up my alley, but even if it doesn't, I see this being one of my favorite shows. 10/10
Aldnoah.Zero – Fuck me. Like this wasn't too bad of a first episode, but then they brought back mr plywood from the dead and I'm just done. 3/10
Rolling Girls – It was okay, it has a lot of potential, I see it going good places. Nothing to write home about just yet 7/10
Durarara x2 – ALL MY YES 100/10 AOTY 2XXX
This season has been super good, I don't get why people hate it. Yeah there's a bit more genericrap, and there are less stand out shows, but I think what makes it for me is the few stand outs are really fuckin good, whereas last season I felt very "yeah this is nice, but it's still kinda eh". There's also Kuroko too, which isn't out yet, but it's Kuroko, so it'll be just more of the same, which is good.
HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT. Did someone see the first episode of Tokyo Ghoul√A?
I've read the manga and holy shit, THAT was unexpected.
Well, I enjoyed testament of sister new devil. I mean, I've been reading the manga for a while, so I knew what to expect, but I fell in love all over again when she was grinding on his crotch.
Kancolle was also enjoyable. It had some CGI character models, but it pulled it off pretty well.
You may oppose my thought but.. I dunno man. Kancolle wasn't that enjoyable when compared with Ars Nova imo. Maybe watching only the first episode is not enough to interpret but the thing is Ars hyped me in at the very first episode, i dunno. I can't help it, but it seems more like a fanservice to me.
I feel like not enough people are talking about Assasination Classroom has anyone talked about Assasination Classroom there's like 22 pages here but it's a really good show I read the manga
Large inhale

I like the manga. The show is okay. I dislike koro-sensei's voice, I was expecting something else. I think nagisa is best girl even though he is a guy.
Too soon to make a review. The art style is great, though. Does it has only 12 episodes or it's two cour?
Unlimited Fafnir: More like Infinity Fafnir D. I don't understand why it has to be D out of anything. It's sounds dirty and it become unintentionally hilarious.
World Break: Despite the flaws, I will stay for no reason at all other than Aoi Yuuki.
Well Toonami announced they are getting Kill la Kill starting February 7th to replace Attack on Titan after its second run on Toonami.
Since I can't edit my last post, It's only taking Attack on Titan's timeslot, Attack on Titan will likely be moved back to another slot since they will have a few open with Space Dandy finishing and Gurren Lagann ending.

Almost positive it is a two cour. I personally like Koro-sensei's voice, but I had no expectations since I have yet to read the manga.
Two firsts in anime today:
Yurikuma Arashi was both understandable and enjoyable! Which is quite amazing since the past three episodes have been both 2deep4u and 2dark4u. It didn't even feel like Yurikuma at first. Gives me much-needed hope for the show.
Secondly, I'm pretty Yugioh Arc-V contained the first-ever example of a card that originated in the manga appearing in the anime. D/D Proud Chevalier must be proud.
…I'm worried, though, about how long they're going to say "the fun is just beginning!" at the end of every episode, since it's going to be weird when the next-episode preview sounds something like this: "Crazed, militant, xenophobic, ultra-nationalist Fusion fascists are committing cross-universal genocide! The fun is just beginning!"
Also, Koufuku Graffiti has no right to be as good as it is. It's so bland, yet it fills my heart with such simple joy, like some tasteless, hot porridge or other food metaphor. The only time I ever realize it's made by Shaft is when people tilt their heads, but it's never in the middle of slaughtering innocents or brushing someone's teeth in a sexual manner or something, so it kind of catches me off-guard.
it fills my heart with such simple joy, like some tasteless, hot porridge or other food metaphor.
Well I'm quite sure that's the point of the whole cute girls doing cute things genre. For me it almost never fails for some simple quality entertainment, you just put in one sort of element, run with it, and attach some heartwarming moments along the way usually. I'm really enjoying Koufuku Graffiti for that specialty, shows like that I just eat up (all puns intended)
(Kirin being a cute)
So how's that winter season working out for everyone now that just about every showed aired?
I found myself watching a lot less than I thought.
Watching
Assassination Classroom
Kind of feel reminded of Zetsubou Sensei a little, I'm curious what a two-cour will transpire for this show.
Death Parade
Pretty interesting, definitely like the concept.
Durarara!!x2 Shou
I was so overjoyed to hear a lot of the first season's soundtracks again after so long, it really brought me back. I'm going to love this.
Junketsu no Maria
Liking the characters so far, Maria certainly is quite a character herself, a witch who interferes in battles. It's pretty heavy on the medieval lore too.
Kancolle
Woooo that opening is fantastic. It's quite a distinct show, certainly lots of girls. Anyone seen Girlfriend (kari) last season? Literally a waifu simulator. But damn after episode 3 it's certainly kicking in the drama.
Military!
Pretty funny little short series. Anything can be a weapon if you put your mind to it.
The Testament of Sister New Devil
Out of the 4 harems airing this season, this one stands out a lot more in my opinion. For a series that's supposed to be lewder than DxD it has a lot of censoring, though I'd be lying if I wasn't interested in the story.
And of course Koufuku Graffiti, Yurikuma, and second cour of some of fall season shows.
@sweetanddelicious
The censorship will be removed in the blu ray releases. Thats usually how it is with ecchi.
Yea I'm well aware of that.
I was mostly referring to how theres a certain channel I think that airs everything uncensored while the show is airing, an example of that would be Kenzen Robo Damidaler, which I saw a while back that did just that. Not surprisingly that show had the same character designers behind it and the VA for Rias even voiced the female lead in it. I think part of what made DxD as lewd as it is is the drastic amounts of uncensored scenes, although I saw it when the series was already completed so I guess the turnabout depends I guess, we'll see.
Time for some fucking update (not that anyone cares)
Shit I've watched since last time (or so I remember well enough)
Oregairu- Not a bad show. Hachiman fucking makes up 80% of the show. It's hard to tell whether you're suppose to like him or pity him… or something.
Haiyore! Nyaruko-san (and W) – I… what? I enjoyed this probably more than I should. Not a big lovecraft person, but shit there's references everywhere. 2 FUCKING MEN IN BLACK REFERENCE. 2. Oh yeah, then there's the tons of Gundam and kamen rider and more Japan-mainstream refences.
Railgun S – Shit was good. Sister arc was hell fucking epic. Much better than Index's sister arc. Retracted in the 2nd half, but doesn't shoot itself in the foot (IMO). Guess I'll have to wait for Season 3 or read the LN.
@SourAndDisgusting
Once it's uncencored, it will be just as lewd, don't you worry.
@the sniper
Nyarko is a stupid show, but I do like it because of that.
MFW I am watching Kancolle after
Sometimes you want a bullshit reason to have a character come back. Also, fuck you Kancolle, I thought you wouldn't pull this shit. I just wanted moe shit, not feels….
At least the kongou sisters are lovable idiots. It was fun seeing them this episode.

Read the LNs. It's way better.
Ehhhh is someone watching Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rinbu? I've read some reviews and, well, people love/hate this show. To be frank…is this show good or I'm gonna waste my time?
BTW I can't wait for the next part of Fate Stay/Night UBW. Rin truly is the best woman.
Moeshit tends to land between comfy feels to SUFFERING, sometimes in drastic matters you just have to tread carefully. It kind of fits Kancolle setting though, I thought I was going to be watching something like Girls und Panzer but it might be kind of like Sora no woto.
@Sniper
Aside from some other noteworthy characters, whenever Kana voices a character in an anime and they suddenly make an appearance the first thing that pops into my head is this soundtrack I love it.
@Loli
Someone asked about Cross Ange in the last page of the thread but they never really responded but I'll restate that it’s all about preferences and personal opinion, what do you expect to see in a show like this based on all those reviews?
In my opinion the shows not god awful (still waiting for the show to drop the ball hard though) but it's definitely not Fate Stay/Night quality. There's constant on and offs, ridiculous moments, hell I can't really explain the plot in one sentence, not really sure what direction the show is going for at the moment. But I just find it all laughable really, I don't think the show really wants to take itself seriously that's what I'm finding entertaining in that aspect, but it's probably not for everyone and could be a waste of your time.
Yeah, it's annoying that Fanservice shows get censored for the TV broadcast. Granted, I actually enjoy the story in that series, but I would be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy the echo shit in the manga.
As for kancolle, I am still holding out that she will live.
I am not going to lie, Cross Ange is pretty awful. But I can't stop watching it.
Livingthedream.jpg
@Sweet
I'm not well versed in the voice-acting areas, so I have a hard time telling who's actually voicing someone (it's kind of good I guess). Now that I think about it, that soundtrack feels unappreciated. Jazzy and nice.
Edit:
I almost cried laughing at this.
Back again cause why not, I'm pretty much going to be just using this alt to post here every once in a while to update what I'm watching. Started watching a few more shows since then, namely Maria the Virgin Witch and Yatterman Night. Both of those are super good shows, really unique and different in their style, especially Yatterman, I recommend everyone watch them.
Durarara has been a bit slow, but not bad by any stretch of the imagination, it's still the highlight of my week (I am so glad that Loli and Jacob's constant "inb4 it becomes Psycho-Pass 2" was wrong after all. Not like there was any doubt, that is). And Aldnoah continues to be a laughable train wreak, just the way I like it.
Other than that, decided to drop Rolling Girls since I wasn't that interested in it. So my top 5 so far is:
- Durarara x2
- Death Parade
- Cute High Earth Defence Club Love!
- Maria The Virgin Witch
- Yatterman Night
This has been A REALLY strong season, I love it. Watch those 5, if nothing else.

Huh. I already hopped off the train by the time Episode 9 rolled in. How did you keep watching even though you knew how bad it was?
Sometimes, I feel like I'm the only person that likes Soul Eater Not, being a big fan of Soul Eater.
Found interesting video about the history of the misconceptions of anime
1 hour long, but worth it.

I haven't seen Soul Eater Not, but I'm a big fan of the original series. Soul Eater Not is on my "Watch it if I've got nothing else to watch" list, so I'll probably get to it at some point, but it'll be a while.
HeatEdgeSword wrote:

Because I have shit taste in anime.
Loli wrote:

Don't we all….
Been watching Yurikuma
What I expected:
What I got:
I guess its all an allegory about the societal pressure on lesbians to hide their true feelings or something. I still need to watch some more to piece this shit together. Hell, I don't even know if I like this show or hate it, I just don't know.
All I wanted was some Yuri fucking kumas.
I guess its all an allegory about the societal pressure on lesbians to hide their true feelings or something.
Like a deconstruction of the yuri genre?
@Loli
Yeah, exactly. The show so far is about the main character mourning the death of her friend and love interest while her classmates ostracize her for not conforming with society and saying her friend deserved to die. There is something about bears eating humans, but I don't understand the symbolism. Its nothing like what I expected.
