Eren is a completely different case.
Yeah, Eren is much worse.
The “assassin’s of justice” and his eagerness are the main reason I hate him
You come to a city with the hopes of making money to save your village. The city rejects you and turns out to be a rotting hell hole. Your friends are brutally killed by the people you trusted and you are saved by a group of assassins. What would you call them? Murders? I sure as hell wouldn't. I, as the reader, was completely on board with him. I thought they were the "good guys".
Eren has his reasons for being an insufferable shit, but he still is one.
you can’t expect him to just turn around and want to kill Annie.
Yes, yes you can. I could understand being hesitant for a bit, but seeing the destruction and death she had caused on top of what she was currently doing. Any normal person would at least try to stop her. Annie and Eren were not BFFs, they were fellow soldiers that trained together, but they spent no time after the training fighting along side.
Annie was only one of his many shortcomings and its not like she didn't train with everyone else. The manga handled this better though. The fact is that Tatsumi is more wary of the world around him than Eren in only the second episode. Tatsumi is the anti Eren. He may be Idealistic and naive, but he still does what needs to be done when the time arises.
Also, Tatsumi's naivete may be the punchline, but I prefer that to the drawn out internal monologues from Eren while he is trying to figure out what to do. Those slowed down the show so much, I almost dropped it half way. That killed the tension more than anything in Akame ga Kill, manga included. JesuOtaku is not absolute. She only offers opinions, and in this case, I won't be swayed. Its not like I don't "get" Eren, I do, and had it been handled better, I would like him. I think the fact that his internal monologues and indecisiveness were constantly used to draw out the story, and kill the tension, is why I can't stand him. Tatsumi is what I like from an MC, Eren is not.
@FredMK
It does.
